You should write a 1 page essay regarding the sharks cap, prospect, and asset situation that should be manfdatory for all outside fans (and some inside ones to read). Of course there are other viewpoints than yours, but outside fans seem to do an adequate job of reminding us that Heatley is an elite forward, he improves the teams cup chances, and only comes around in the rarest of circumstances. Sadly this post like so many other logical ones posted by various sharks posters will go unnoticed.
Even if he does just work out as a 3rd line energy guy he has scoring upside and he's relatively cheap so it serves a good purpose. Getting rid of him now makes no sense until we know where his potential lies, even for Dany The Guru Heatley...
EDIT: Cue comments from angry Sens fans --> "You wouldn't trade McGinn for Heatley, you're out of your minds.... !!! Grrr!"

Reason: Better spell his name right :)

lol at the supposed deal on the table. That would be a bad trade for the Sharks for the roster on the ice, for the cap payroll, and complete overpayment for the situation at hand.
Unless the Sharks can get Dany Heatley for Michalek or Clowe plus Douglas Murray and change, it's not even worth discussing. You move a top six because you're replacing them with Heatley and you move guys that aren't playing vital positions on the ice.
Clowe, Cheechoo, and Murray for Heatley or let it go, Douggie. Don't trade them picks. Don't trade them prospects. Don't trade them people playing critical roles that you can't replace. If they don't want to do it, let them look elsewhere or keep him. Heatley is not worth breaking the team over.
Even if you get Heatley at my price, there's still another 4 mil to trade off after you acquire a 1 mil third liner and a 500k 7th defenseman. So in reality, after this deal, you still have to move Michalek. It's simply not worth it and it would be a humongous mistake if Doug Wilson consummates any deal involving the Sens and Dany Heatley.
