To me, that's a firm denial. Not a kind of "I can't say anything now to confirm or deny..." but the suggestion that the report is utter tosh.

I don't think this deal is going down whatsoever.

On top of that, I don't see Ottawa taking Stoll and Frolov for Heater either. The Sens are already at the cap, the deal is only going to save about $1m and Frolov will be a rental at best as Volchenkov will want a hefty raise next year and he's their only big ticket FA. on a falling cap.

They already have Fisher as an overpaid 2nd line centre - why would they want Stoll too who hardly fits into the great value for money category himself? And essentially Stoll for Heater? Makes no sense...

I can see why LA would be all over a swap like that though...

After the past 5 seasons, I'm really not opposed to anything that will change this lineup. I cannot believe there are so many who think things are going to change with the current team.
Heatly will NOT be that change though. He'll come in, and crunch us even tighter to the cap, and we'll have to sacrifice our future for it. If you want change for changes sake because of the last five seasons..... Can you imagine what the next five will look like if we can't resign Seto, Pavs, etc?

Homie, it sounds like he listened to me. What you guys don't know is I had a dead fish mailed to him 2 hours before he called it a complete fabrication.

IMO it really doesn't matter. I'm a hardcore hockey fan, and watching the Sharks is probably one of my biggest hobbies, but its really not that big of a deal. What I feel or think, or what any fan thinks, has no bearing on what will actually happen. There's only one person who needs to worry about the cap situation, and that's the GM, be it DW or the next in line. If DW sees this trade to be the best fit, then no one can do anything to stop it. Even if I have qualms or opinions on the move, at the end of the day I'll still end up watching the games. Its something to take me away from the grind of life, not add to it.

Had a brief chat with Patrick Marleau over the phone, he says he intends to remain a Shark, and with that NTC, who can tell him otherwise?

patty doesnt need a contract from the sharks, hes the kind of player that will have no issue getting signed by a large number for teams in this league. If he walks, the Sharks are the losers in that deal

The Senators are still trying to deal Heatley but can't get the San Jose Sharks to close a reported three-way deal that would also include the L.A. Kings.

Pollak update:
Quote:
Marleau knew he wasn’t going anywhere
http://blogs.mercurynews.com/sharks/...l-off-the-ice/

Quote:
GM Doug Wilson disclosed this morning that Mitchell, who missed last season because of multiple leg injuries but returned for four playoff games, is being kept off the ice as a precautionary measure because of lingering tendinitis.

Whether or not Mitchell will be ready to go when the season begins Oct. 1 remains to be seen and will be determined by trainer Ray Tufts, Wilson added.
...
Back to Marleau and the reported trade on espn.com Thursday that had him shipped to Los Angeles in a three-way deal that brought Dany Heatley to San Jose.

Everybody else got caught up in it, but Marleau said he wasn’t worried. For one thing, he knew he hadn’t been asked to waive his no-trade clause and that would have to happen first.
Team also hopes that fans don't show up until Sunday's open camp due to SJSU football and SJ Giants baseball games (parking nightmare).

I bet LA or Ottawa wants Douglas Murray, but we can't afford to give up another defenseman.

I figured this trade wouldn't happen, Marleau deserves to stay. We have unfinished business to take care of when the season starts.
