Must be why he wasn't at the State of the Franchise...

I'm glad he's gone, the Canucks marketing has been disastrous under him; they dropped the ball on the new jerseys and the 7th man banner was a fiasco.

Seriously. That 7th man banner was just a joke. The new jerseys are crappy too.

Jerseys may suck, but he's made Aqua millions on them with the Olympics around the corner.

I heard from an inside source (E5)that Aquilini was incensed that the the Canucks did not make it out of the second round - someone had to pay the price.

The new jerseys would have made millions regardless. I doubt a significant portion of the revenue is from tourists buying the jersey because it has "Vancouver" on it.

Perhaps now, but in February that may change.

In any case I'm glad he's gone, the jerseys suck and the 7th man thing was among the most retarded things I've ever seen. I felt so bad for lil' Cliffy when they paraded him out for that crap.

Good riddance.

Good riddance.

Guy did nothing for the franchise - only helped out Aqualini.

My dream was for Zimmerman out and Yzerman in (as silly and unlikely that would be, but that's the good thing about dreams).

Why would Yzerman want to essentially be in charge of marketing? Why would the Canucks want somebody with no related experience as CEO?

I'm not sure why you'd doubt the fact that the city name increases the tourist value astronomically. People generally don't want souvenirs no one at home will recognize.

I always sorta liked the Zimmerman hiring, but looking back on some of his recent initiatives I guess it isn't all that surprising; most of them have been pretty bad. Though I liked the Linden ceremony.

As President he could hire a Marketing Director. President essentially just runs the franchise (I believe?), he doesn't need to be in charge of marketing. Yzerman knows how a winning franchise is run. I read that Yzerman would like to one day move up the ladder and if Ken Holland and Co. stay on for the foreseeable future Yzerman may look elsewhere if that's what he really wants. As President he can do what HE wants, whether that is also to be a GM, etc. He's already VP in the Wings organization so the next step up is President.

A jersey is expensive and not the most practical thing to wear around. If I wanted an article of clothing that said "Vancouver", I'd get a 25$ shirt. I'm sure some tourists buy them, but of total sales, tourists who are non-Canuck fans probably account for less than 2%

Heaven forbid anyone in the NHL world use hockey people to market the game of hockey, thats just plain silly talk.

If anything, the NHL needs more lawyers and people with Business degree's running the show!

Think they might buy Canucks tshirts that say Vancouver?

Go to gastown and ask store owners who is buying the new third jersey.

I had relatives fly in from Italy about 6 months back, they had no interest in hockey, or the NHL, or the Canucks, but bought 3 jerseys because they had a whale on it with "vancouver" written across it.

I would really like to see the jersies modded, doubt that will happen though.

Our away jerseys especially are the ugliest in the league.

Really?! Man. I love both our jerseys. The colours just scream "Vancouver". The design could be better though.
