I think he only really does black boxers. I love it because I've always loved Hopkins.

Plus Rocky wasn't even real. I know he's a huge symbol and all but I'm glad he chose real boxers from Philly.

And yet he DID include him on the back.

BTW: I hate Hopkins loud and yapping mouth... I could have lived with him off the mask.

His painter isn't very good. I like the idea, but the execution isn't nearly as good as the guy who does, DiPi and Lehtonen's masks (or a ton of other NHL goalies for that matter).

That having been said, I'm glad he chose to use two real boxers from Philadelphia considering the town's history in the sport. That said Rocky is a shoo in, he's got to be on that mask somewhere.

Rocky doesnt even exist. For real, if he would have made an all rocky mask i would have beat him to death with it, then set it on fire and crapped on the remains.

Rocky was a great movie. MOVIE. Im kind of embarrased thats all this city has had to hang its hat on utnil last year. Rocky isnt real. Fictional Charecters. Fic-tional Char-acters.

/rant

BTW that is the ugliest mask I have ever seen. that artist sucks balls. Looks like the artwork from facebreakers for ****s sake.

I always get so embarrassed when people talk about Rocky as if he was a real person. It's pathetic that this city so closely identifies with a fictional character. I'll even admit that when I bring friends in from out of town to go to a sporting event, I find it funny when they give Philly fans **** about swinging from Rocky's nuts (I also encourage it).

Thats probably why its on the back of the mask. Rocky is still a Philadelphia icon.

Which I find sad. Its a movie character. Not a boxer. It has no place on the mask that honors boxers. Bobby Clarke, brian Dawkins, those guys are philadelphia Icons. Rocky is a figment of someones imagination.

While I agree it's kind of silly to iconisize (real word? is now.) a movie character, I can't really think of any other movie characters that have been an important part of a city the way Rocky is. I mean, there's a freakin' statue of him. What other cities have a statue of a movie character (besides in Disney World)? That being said, it's not really the character that the people of Philadelphia relate to, but rather what he represents. Why they couldn't have chosen a Bobby Clarke or a Michael Jack Schmidt to iconisize (it's catching on like wildfire!) more, I can't really say.
