Oh wow. Everyone is doom-and-gloom on HF.

Let's Go Rangers!

I'll say 5th or 6th in Eastern Conference.

I think a big problem is centering gabo... is it drury, dubinsky??? Renny always like to shuffle lines but Torts liked to stay the course.. I like Dube but I feel like he needs to learn to finish... the future is hopefully bright ...this year is another 7th or 8th unfortunately but because of king hank we are in any playoff series

I like the makeup of the team, except for a few of things.

One: No real passer on the team.

Gaborik doesn't REALLY need anyone to set him up. That's the beauty of an elite player. They create their own opportunities, and finish the opportunities they make for themselves. Which is why Dubinsky and Higgins would be more then adequate.

However, the second line really needs a passer. Kotalik needs someone to set him up. Drury is not a real playmaker. He will do some dirty work, and he also has a really good shot. They need a passer.

Two: No Power Play QB.

We do not have anyone that will be able to QB the Power Play regularly. Gilroy will be able to hopefully one day. But to ask it of him in his rookie season is unfair. Redden is not a PP QB. Barking up the wrong tree there.

Three: No tough as nails, crease-clearing defenseman.

We haven't had one in a long time. We need one to protect Lundqvist, otherwise opposing teams will take liberties and run Lundqvist all season long...

Acquiring all three needs before the season is virtually impossible.

Therefore, at least most of this season will be a transition year, again, like last year.

Fine with me as long as the top prospects continue to develop and get chances.

And who knows... maybe we sign Schneider as a PP QB. Later in the year find that Grachev is the passer we need. And then acquire a tough, physical defenseman at the deadline? Optimism.

55+ points for Dubinsky? Come on guys where is all this hidden offensive upside? The kid is good for 40 thats not a bad thing 55 in his prime maybe but not next year.

As far as overall performance I'd say 4th-5th is being generous and I think 7th-8th is realistic even worse if Gabby or Hank go down for even 10 games.

7th-9th place in the Easter Conference, right on the cusp of a playoff spot.

45 tops? This kid is in his third year. Yeah, a huge jump to 80 points would be a little unrealistic (though a jump like that wouldn't be unheard of in the NHL). You've got to expect that he'll be better as he gets older and moves towards his prime. With Gaborik, I could see him getting 55 and I wouldn't be that surprised. I think it's just as crazy to think that he's reached his ceiling already as thinking that he's going to score 80. Yeah, both are possible but not likely.

I just want you all to remember that this is an olympic year. Expect a rough second half for Hank.

With that, and the often-injured Gaborik i'm expecting no higher than 6th.

Gaborik full year = 6th
Gaborik normal year = </= 10

Uh-oh.

We could end up with #5 seed but I'm expecting #7 or #8 seed. Dont see us being better than last year but it should be more fun to watch.

Lisin to have around 25 goals...

Doh, I short changed him, actually it was a typo I can see him getting 55 in his prime or a few times in his career, to me he is a 40-50 point kid most likely going to be in the mid 40's most his career. That isn't bad but some people round here tend to think he has a lot of offensive upside that is just waiting to come out.

Personally I don't know if he struggled last year or not, sure it seemed that he did and you could tell he was frustrated but maybe 40pts is going to be the norm for him maybe he over achieved his first year and started to settle in his 2nd.

I'll take 40-50pts in the regular season and solid play in the playoffs from him any day, the kids a good player to have on the team thats for sure. But I think he is 2nd line center tops. Hope he proves me wrong.

Can't see us being much worse than last season even if Gabby goals down.

Dead last.

Lowest point total in team history.

Gabby gets hurt in the first game.

Hank involved in blockbuster trade.
