I picked too close to call, but I feel after this season Getzlaf and Crosby would win this poll.

I understand that, anything can happen, injuries, breakout seasons etc but I mentioned that with the 2010 Olympics in mind.

For the Olympics? Hopefully for Canada Getzlaf recovers 100% from his sports hernia surgery, or else it's easily going to be the Russian duo.

Malkin + Datsyuk. Better defensively. And slightly better offensively.

Past season.

Malkin > Crosby (check out conn smythe, more points. Also quite a big discrepency in +/- dispite they have the same role on the same team..)

Datsyuk > Getzlaf (Datsyuk is better offensively and is a selke winner)

On Olympic ice? Datsyuk and Malkin.

I don't think Getzlaf will play as well a) post-surgery and b) further away from the net cycling on the big ice. Although there may be more open space for his excellent passing.

Well there's still the surgery. Normally on small ice I'd pick Crosby/Getzlaf because I think Crosby is better than either Malkin or Datsyuk, and that Getzlaf is about on par with Datsyuk. But seeing how Pahlsson, Marchant, and Giguere all were quite visibly slowed by the same surgery by the same doctor (who is considered an expert at it), I think I'll stick with Datsyuk/Malkin.

Now throw in Ovechkin and ____.

Both Malkin and Datsyuk are better then Crosby and Getzlaf. This is a no brainer.

Crosby is better than Malkin and I think Getzlaf and Datsyuk is more or less a wash.

Agreed. Gotta go with the Russians here, by a hair.

And yeah, that was meant to be a pun on Getzlaf's bald spot.

Ill take the 1st and 2nd best players in the game (Datsyuk and Malkin respectively) ahead of the 4th and 5th.

I'd take Malkin/Datsyuk because I think Malkin is better than Crosby and Datsyuk's defensive ability makes him a better #2 than Getzlaf.

However, I'd take:
Malkin
Crosby
Getz
Datsyuk

In that order if I could only have one.

The Canadians
Crosby is clutch as **** and Getzlaf is so much stronger than either russian and brings a whole other aspect to Canada's game. Also playing at home will raise their game

It's clearly too close to call, anyone who says otherwise doesn't watch hockey OR is slightly biased at the least.
