Patrick Kane Arrested for Robbing and Assaulting Cab Driver

http://www.buffalonews.com/home/story/758903.html

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=287230

Quote:
The pair allegedly punched the cab driver and grabbed money they had handed him after he told them he didn't have twenty cents in coins to give them their change, the report said.

Their fare was $13.80 and they handed the driver $15, according to a report.

The cab driver told police he was punched in the face and head, grabbed by the throat and had his glasses broken during the incident.
This does not look good for Kane...

Let's wait to hear his version. They are just allegations.

Though I agree with the Quick Draw McGraw that it doesn't look good.

Bettman's reaction will be interesting. We know if it was Malkin doing this, then Bettman, after bailing him out through his own expense account, buying him a BJ on the way home to relieve the stress and paying for his lawyer, would argue that no action by the league is warranted. Perhaps Bettman will argue for Patrick that "it was misguided frustration at not winning the Cup this past season and he deserves the benefit of our doubt" (exaggeration for effect).

Chippewa Street.. good times!

Chippewa Street is where all the bars are in Buffalo. I didn't think Kane was even 21 yet but I guess that doesn't matter these days. I bet in the end all the blame gets put on the other guy regardless of it was his fault or not and they'll sweep it under the rug.

I do feel for the kid. He is probably in full panic mode right now. The phone has not stopped ringing. He has probably broken down. The charges seem serious enough, though I wonder how much of it is an overzealous D.A.'s office.

That would make things worse since he is underage... They already found like a torn $5 bill from the incident in his cousin's pocket, but if they find out that the kids were intoxicated (a likely scenario at 5 a.m.) it will be much worse. Kane is a professional athlete and will likely not face serious penalty, but who knows. They just finished crucifying Plaxico Burress...

The real disgusting part of this is needing the twenty cents back on a $13.80 fare when you've only given the guy $15.

C'mon!

Wow, how wierd. Its probably safe to say Patty K cried when he got hauled off to the station.

Also funny just as a title, a few links below at the bottom of the page "Barber accused of slapping toddler"

But seriously, even if there is the slightest truth to this Kane story, what the **** is wrong with him? I know liquor makes you dumb and hostile, but jeez. Perhaps there was something else involved substance-wise? I have this image in my head of Patricks cousin being this hulking, 'roided out devils advocate to Patrick.

Perhaps this will work out well for the Hawks. If Kane does any jail time or it sours his image much, then when they can't afford to pay him next off-season they can pass it off as Kane needing a change of scenery to get away from his cabbie punching stigma.

Its too bad he wasn't in taxi cab confessions, or better yet, in the cash cab! We'd know everything.

New York has very serious gun laws. The legal system in America is a mess when it comes to pro athletes. Dante Stallworth got 20 days for running somebody over while intoxicated. Mike Vick got 2 years for killing dogs. The message to me is that it is worse to kill dogs than humans. I've heard they want to give Plax 3 years for shooting himself, which means if you want to do the least amount of time and commit a crime make sure you kill another human or else. All I know is if I'm Pat Kane and I want to party Buffalo would be the last place you would find me and I damn sure would not demand change back.
