People care more about animals than they do about humans, I'd expect him to get less.

This is a wonderful opportunity. Cabbies are vulnerable people who are often attacked. By making Kane a sacrifice, we can show our disgust at such attacks. They ought to throw the book at him. Also, in the age where the privileged get away with everything, with the bankers who started the financial crisis getting richly rewarded for it, such a sacrifice also would help make people happier.

Still trying to figure that out.

I asked if Americans still used $1 bills? That could explain it.

Really? I can believe he doesn't Kane since he's relatively newcomer to the NHL, it was in Buffalo, and a lot of people from that part of the world don't really watch hockey. I don't mean that in a rude way, just a fact.

However, I don't think he was convincing at all. If what he says really happened - he sure needed to pause to remember a lot of it and he damn well better sue for head damage.

Thanks.

That could explain why he had $100 out and me and the other fella didn't understand why since - In Canada - we use paper money only for $5 and up. 1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 25 cent, 1 dollar and 2 dollars are all coins.

Can you imagine if this concerned a Hab player? With all the fuss around last year's no arrest no charges no story on the K bros and Hammer, I can't even begin to fathom the outcry, lynching mob and 24 hour updates on every TV station and radio station a story like this would've resulted in.

We would've had to basically trade/waive said player in the next week.

Kane is pretty lucky he is playing in Chicago.

I'm sorta jealous at the kind of mild fanbase other teams have. I mean people in my entourage are still convinced that the K bros are criminals.... It's pretty annoying and sad.

I echo the sentiments of those who tend to want to wait for the whole story. This sounds made up. Or at least embellished or something.

I think we've all learned a thing or two about scandalous media reports in the last year or two.

So far the reporting has been accurate.

Ha, sadly what in Montreal ever is? It's sad really. I wish Gainey would curb-stomp a few of those scandal makers.

Kane could be in serious, serious trouble. In New York, 2nd degree robbery carries a sentence of 3.5 to 15 years if he has no priors. They usually would not charge a person with robbery unless they have a pretty solid case.

Its truly amazing how someone with such rare talent and ability who could make a hundred million or more before their career is over can put them self in a situation where they are likely to commit such serious crimes. So many people would kill to be in the NHL, living the dream. He may have flushed it all down the toilet.

So far we're only hearing one side of the story. This video only presents one side of the story. That's my point.

Edit: Also note the use of the word allegedly and the lack of a police statement. So far.

I know, I was replying to your sentiment that the media may be trying to create some sort of scandal. I too am interested to hear the other side (although I'm not expecting much).

Gotchya.

I don't think they are trying to create a scandal per say. I just think that if there is hint of one they will flock like vultures.

Best thing is to wait to hear Kane's side of the story before forming an opinion on this imho.

If he was a Montréal player he'd be crucified here. Deemed unwanted by anyone and scum. Why ? Because false allegations against habs players are always true.

If they had, they would have a 3 year jail sentence on the spot. Of course they are pleading not guilty.

They seem to be in something serious, as opposed to other "local scandals". This is going to be very interesting...
