Stafford may not have a 40 goal ceiling, but hes definitely a 30-35 guy. And slow? Ask the Leafs defense if hes slow. Or Mike Green after he turned him inside out a few yrs back

Did I once say that he was slow? The guy had a career high last season as far as goals is concerned, and while its only his 2nd full season, I wouldnt say that he has 30-35 goal potential just yet. Nate already has a 30 goal season under his belt, and would of had his second last season had it not been for injuries and the fact that he rang at least a dozen off the posts. I think Stafford will peak at around 30 goals, and that is in no way a bad thing, but Nate has the ability to be a 40+ goal scorer in this league, he just needs to get his head straight.
no freking way i trade horton!!!!!!! we need more scoring, not a downgrade!!!!!! he's got a good contract and is a legitimate scorer. nate has the same problem ollie had. no good fot on the tame to play with!!!! the guy is a legit scorer and you want to dump him?????? if this happens the team goes further in the hole and becomes more of a laughing stock, especially for a downgrade rfa.

Okay, I went to bed last night thinking about something I read in the main Stafford/Horton rumor thread on the Trades boards. One of the Sabres fans mentioned something about Paille being one of the players rumored in the Heatley rumors. So, I'm thinking why not a 3 team trade? I think it works for all three teams. Florida improves their offense, Buffalo gets the player they wanted in Horton and Ottawa gets alot back for someone that wants to be traded. What do you guys think. I would part ways with Horton/Olesz to bring in Heatley/Stafford. Would you?

Fixed it. I am not sold on Matthias at all, and while I still think Rusty can be a contributor for us, I would definitely give him up for Heatley.
If trading Horton, Olesz, and a 2nd/3rd (I'd throw in both) gets Heatley and Stafford, who would say no? I'm not in favor of trading Horton, unless it's for a real upgrade.

Stafford's an RFA, I find the trade interesting, but I think Buffalo adds. Especially with Stafford being an RFA.
Does the station cite any source? Because up to now, the only source is Eklund, and that's not worth even talking about (as GP now knows ). If this radio station is merely giving legs to Eklund's rumor, it's as worthless as he is.

This. Can't agree more. So far there seems to be no credibility to the rumor.

I'm guessing both sides would have to add, and Eklund reported this a couple days ago, so he may end up being right for once. Once WGR reports it(they rarley report rumors unless there is truth/possiblity to them), there's actaully a chance it could happen.

Schiestel is a solid puck handler, 6'2, offensive defenseman
Brennan is a Sheldon Souray type. Big body, pretty well rounded with a cannon of a shot. One of my favorite prospects
While I don't know much about Scheistel, Brennan is not a lot like Souray IMO. He's not nearly as big as Souray, and his shot isn't nearly as hard. I'd still like him included though, although I was hoping to hear Gerbe or Kennedy's name.

I like it better than some of the other ideas/options that have been floated out there lately. Gives everybody something without giving somebody to much, plus gives us the advantage of not losing to much.
