Did I once say that he was slow? The guy had a career high last season as far as goals is concerned, and while its only his 2nd full season, I wouldnt say that he has 30-35 goal potential just yet. Nate already has a 30 goal season under his belt, and would of had his second last season had it not been for injuries and the fact that he rang at least a dozen off the posts. I think Stafford will peak at around 30 goals, and that is in no way a bad thing, but Nate has the ability to be a 40+ goal scorer in this league, he just needs to get his head straight.

IT'S REDICULOUS!!!!!!!! NO FREAKING WAY!!!!! buffalo can't sweeten this package enough!!!!!!!!
it's funny how me run all our stars out of town usually for nothing, or major downgrades and the revive their careers and fulfill their expectations somewhere else!!!!!!
Agreed 100%. This trade makes no sense.

Florida improves their offense, Buffalo gets the player they wanted in Horton and Ottawa gets alot back for someone that wants to be traded. What do you guys think. I would part ways with Horton/Olesz to bring in Heatley/Stafford. Would you?

To Florida:
RFA Stafford
D. Heatley

To Buffalo:
N. Horton

To Ottawa:
R. Olesz
Matthias
2nd rd pick(Florida)
D. Paille
+Prospect(Buffalo)
Fixed it. I am not sold on Matthias at all, and while I still think Rusty can be a contributor for us, I would definitely give him up for Heatley.

If trading Horton, Olesz, and a 2nd/3rd (I'd throw in both) gets Heatley and Stafford, who would say no? I'm not in favor of trading Horton, unless it's for a real upgrade.

Does the station cite any source? Because up to now, the only source is Eklund, and that's not worth even talking about (as GP now knows ). If this radio station is merely giving legs to Eklund's rumor, it's as worthless as he is.

This. Can't agree more. So far there seems to be no credibility to the rumor.

This is the guy's post|:

Quote:
I was just listening to WGR550, the Sabres radio network and they just stated that "Drew Stafford to Florida for Nathan Horton is really starting to heat up".

I'm guessing both sides would have to add, and Eklund reported this a couple days ago, so he may end up being right for once. Once WGR reports it(they rarley report rumors unless there is truth/possiblity to them), there's actaully a chance it could happen.

yeah, I now know, but I still think it's useful to have an All-Eklund Thread for the laughs it would provide.

While I don't know much about Scheistel, Brennan is not a lot like Souray IMO. He's not nearly as big as Souray, and his shot isn't nearly as hard. I'd still like him included though, although I was hoping to hear Gerbe or Kennedy's name.

If we trade Horton for Stafford we might as well start rebuilding for real.

All right, you can start a "ridiculous rumors" thread (don't mention Eklund specifically in the title). But I won't sticky it - we've got enough of those.

Florida fans who would you rather have for Horton

Would you rather have Paul Gaustad or Drew Stafford as the main player in a trade with the Sabres ?

They may have an odd occasion or two when they get some legitimate inside information but in general WGR is the radio equivalent of EK.

And their host have the dumbest opinions on hockey you can imagine.

Buffalo seems to love having midget forward prospects. (Ennis and those 2)

I like it better than some of the other ideas/options that have been floated out there lately. Gives everybody something without giving somebody to much, plus gives us the advantage of not losing to much.

Can't we just re-label this thread, THE RIDICULOUS RUMOR THREAD?

By the way, he who shall not be named says this trade is now gaining momentum. Does this mean it's now more ridiculous?

Lord Voldermort's doing hockey rumors now? Awesome!! LOL

I've been reading some of his stuff lately and I have to say, he should have his own stand up routine going.
