Dan Tencer has an interview with Gilbert Brule posted:

  • happy with new 2-way contract and looking forward to playing for Quinn and Renney
  • has met Pat Quinn many times going back to his time with the Giants, and knows he'll get a real good look at camp
  • thinks there are spots up for grabs, and wants to put up some goals and points during the pre-season to put himself into one of the open spots
  • wants to show his style of game, which is an offensive, gritty, style; also realizes faceoffs were a weakness on the club, and wants to be on top of his faceoffs
  • Springfield was "great"; he played in every situation, including PK, PP, and thinks it really helped his game
  • believes he is now in the best physical shape he has ever been in as a pro, is working on his shot a lot on the ice this summer, as well as his passing. Wants to be able to increase his accuracy and bury more chances
  • pretty much brushed off Tencer's question about "playing in Edmonton" as a non-issue. Hasn't had any problems at all with the situation here, has family here, but moved when he was very young so didn't have friends here growing up

Hopefully Brule comes to camp hungry this year. He has a very good chance of making the club, if not as a top 6 forward, then as the 4th line C. His versatility will be his calling card, he has more versatility in his game then a lot of the forwards on the team currently. If he can come in and have a great camp, the Oilers will be much better for it.

All he has to do is be himself, score some goals, throw some hits and be reliable. Then he'll be on the team.
