Ranger Crush Islanders Souls With Game Six SF Win

Before 1994 this is what most of us used to hang our hat on.

Ranger Crisis

John Davidson was unreal in that series.

And true, it was shattering to NYI fans at the time.

That pain lasted for 12 months. And then a dynasty began.

Funny how that's not mentioned.

Selective memory, one supposes.

Great footage, though. Thanks.

Winning Goal: Ron Greschner Blast on the PP. Maybe we should bring Gresch back to run the PP

I hear ya Torts why let something like 4 Cups get in the way of anything. Let him enjoy it. Be nice to see if he can actually talk about a game objectively once the season starts or if he's gonna be one of these one way Ranger fans that have an excuse for every loss we know there's plenty of them around.

The sight of Denis Potvin kneeling against the boards, crushed by defeat, is one of the best images to come out of that series.

Mhurley that is thee memorable moment for me also.

I will never forget what Ranger announcer Jim Gordon said about Potvin Kneeling down.

"Denis Potvin what a Portrait"

Definitely not the way he means it, nor the point he's trying to make.

Not to mention, its a Ranger fan's video blog showing classic moments in RANGER history.

I have this entire game on DVD. Not the MSG edited crap but the whole game. I also just traded for a bunch of 80's games vs the Flyers. Can't wait to listen to Jim Gorden again !!!

Murder was a great hockey player. Too bad he couldn't keep the spoon out of his nose. Such a waste.

Banner seen at Game Six that spring night in '79:

"Denis - Tee Time is 9am Tomorrow"

Am an NYI fan, obviously, but must admit, an ingenuous banner...and combined with that image of Potvin at the end of the game, encapsulated the shock and pain on the losing end.

I was in 8th grade at the time, and remember sitting on my neighbors couch watching this and thinking 'Man, I can't wait to go to school tomm". great time as a kid to stick it to my Isles friends. The joy was short though...
I spent ALL four years of H.S watching the Islanders stick it back to me x4...

I don't care what kind of fan you are, you have to appreciate a good banner. Loved the one someone had in Philly for the Giants-Eagles playoff game in '06. "Eli, you're no Cooper." Brilliant.
