HFBoards TOP 60 ranking: Defencemen #56

Now that the season and playoffs are over, I thought we'd do an "HFboards ranking" for each position.

So basically, who (of the following) is the best defenceman in the NHL? ie. which Dman would you want on your team for next year only? (independent of their respective salary)

Vote away.

Best defenders are voted on by offensive ability apparently.

A real defensemen list should look different and be actual defensive defensemen, or perhaps, all-around defensemen.

Offensive ability doesnt equate to a good defensemen necessarily.

1 through take your pick.

This entire list is just based off of offense primarily. Its a wash.

Show me a list based off of actual defensive ability. Isnt that what its asking for?

No, that would be a "best goalies" list.

So this list must be "players with the most points who might as well be forwards but are defensemen"?

Maybe you should pay more attention to how the game of hockey works.

I grade defense on how well they play defense, not how well their offense overshadows their poor defense, like some players on this list.

Basically "youre a ****** defensemen but your offensive skill makes up for it, so youre in my top ten."

Seriously?

When will defensemen be graded for defense and not offense?

Mike Komisarek is one example who should be in the top ten. Talk about a shut down defenseman.
