We'll do the Isles a favour and officially eliminate the sabres from playoff contention tonight

Even tho I'm more of an Isles fan, I kinda hope New York loses tonite, and Buffalo wins, just to see it go down to the last game.

For the record, Montreal hasn't clinched 7th yet (Isles win both, Montreal loses their last one, slip to 8th by one point)

In all likelihood, they'll be 7th anyways, but still.......Isles might still pull it off!

If Cole wouldn't have blown that penalty shot, the last goal Carolina scored would've made it 6-5. Something to think about in the off-season, Sabres fans.

As for the race, I'd like to see the Sabres win tonight and the Leafs tomorrow. That way, Boston will only need to pick up 1-point in either of their two games with the Devils this weekend.

Scenario changes...I still hope Toronto beats(tie) Sens tomorrow in regulation and B's win 1 or two.

Looks like we need a Toronto win/tie over the Sens and then at least one win (or two ties) against the Devils.

It's amazing that with so few games left there is so much movement possible in the East.

The Sens, Leafs and Bruins can each finish 2,4,5,6. One of the 3 will finish #2.

The Devils and Flyers can each finish 3,4,5,6. One of the two will finish #3.

If the Devils win their two games, they win the division and get 3rd. If they don't they won't have enough points to catch anybody else, so they can't finish 4th or 5th.

Philly with a win and 102 points can finish 4th.

You're right. Devils are locked into 3 or 6.

Ottawa loses and we win both gives us 2nd. We'd have the tiebreaker.

That would give Toronto 103 points (they play Ottawa and you have Ottawa losing in this scenario) then and give them the division as well since Boston would still be at 102 then (since you have them losing). You'd be at 102. That puts you in 3rd.

I'm pretty sure there's no way for NJ to get the 2nd.
