This just goes to show how good of a coach Torts really is. To see Torts get on a player's case about his play and that player then goes out and performs, AND THEN that same player decided to sign with torts' new team after all that happened in tampa bay...just makes you wonder what does he say behind closed doors to his players to get them going
Anyone who plays/played sports can tell you some of the best coaches are the ones who can piss you off without taking it too far. Its a fine line for a coach to walk and doesn't work with every player but Torts seems to do a pretty good job with it.
Prospal: Whenever we had disputes, it was only about the hockey. We'd bicker [until it was resolved] and then the air was clear again. I consider him to be the best coach I've ever met in the NHL. Whenever we chat privately, it's clear our bond is more than that of a mere player and coach. I know John considers me a player who can help [New York] and that I'm someone he wants to work with.
