Basically we play the Devils in every scenario other that if the Flyers win and the Devils win in regulation.

I want Jersey. If we play Ottawa, I think it will be a short spring. While I don't think the Flyers would win easily, I think we will matchup better with them.

your judging too much off of last night. they beat us, move on. the flyers can beat ottawa, not saying they will, but its not a guaranteed elimination. i've wanted jersey all along.

ottawa vs. toronto would suffice too, ottawa would be beaten up even if they were to move on.

Excellent work. Thanks for clearing that up as I was about to wreck my brain doing the same.

Ok call me stupid but whats the difference between a win and OT win both give 2 points so why would a win in regulation put them in 3rd but a OT win put them in 6th.

The only thing I can think of is it is one of the tie breakers where they keep track of regulation wins and OT wins and regulation wins are worth more in a tie breaker. But why would there be such a difference now? Do the Flyers and Devils have the same amount of OT wins or something? Do they even keep track of that stuff?

Flyers win & Devils win in regulation

2. Toronto - 103 pts. 45 wins
3. New Jersey - 102 pts. 44 wins
4. Ottawa - 102 pts. 43 wins
5. Philadelphia - 102 pts. 41 wins
6. Boston - 102 pts. 40 wins

Flyers win & Devils win in OT

2. Toronto - 103 pts. 45 wins
3. New Jersey - 102 pts. 44 wins
4. Boston - 103 pts. 40 wins
5. Ottawa - 102 pts. 43 wins
6. Philadelphia 102 pts. 41 wins

If Devils win in OT it means the Bruins pick up a point.

I think it has more to do with Boston getting the point with the game going into OT. Unless, of course, the Devils were to win in OT with Boston pulling their goalie, then Boston doesn't get a point and the Devils get 2. But let's not get all confused here.

I'll take Jersey in the first round and watch Ottawa & Toronto beat each other up. Then we play a banged up Toronto, win in OT of game 6 and kick the crap out of the Habs who upset the bean boys... life is good.

Without adding more confusion, the way I see it:

New Jersey can finish 3rd or 6th (if they lose the division title, they can't finish 4th or 5th b/c of less points than Boston and Ottawa)

Ottawa can finish 4th or 5th (can't finish 6th b/c they win tiebreakers)

Boston can finish 4th, 5th or 6th

Philadelphia finish 3rd, 5th or 6th (can't finish 4th b/c they'd lose tiebreaker with Ottawa)

Let's just stay healthy tomorrow!!!!!

I think GKJ is judging off Friday night AND maybe the past couple of springs might be in the back of his mind, also........just a guess.

They beat Ottawa once in 4 games. Not only that but Ottawa is better than they were the past 2 years

I disagree with that statement. Ottawa was better last year than they are today.

Why do you think Ottawa was better a year ago?

Goaltending. Lalime was playing great last year. Now Lalime is hurt, and when he has been healthy he's been very shaky.

The last couple weeks Lalime has played outstanding. Beyond that, very shaky. Lalime has been known as a playoff goaltender tho...he's got some of the best numbers out there and he can step his game up. I don't think Lalime will ever be our problem in the playoffs. The only thing different about this team is its giving up more opportunities...but has also gotten grittier and seems to be scoring by huge margins. The recent Laff game was the only blowout of the year. It'll have them pumped up I'm sure.

Lalime's March numbers

3-5-0-1 2.66 GAA & .900 sv%

Far from outstanding, and now he's injured and may or may not be at 100%.

Barring a miracle, they'll play the Devils. Fine. No Stevens, and everyone is back on the Flyers. I'll take those chances, especially the way the Flyers have played the Devils as of late.

I agree that the Devils is the preferable match-up, but if both teams win (Devils in regulation) we face Ottawa.

IMO that's the most likely scenario, as Thornton is doubtful for Boston, and the game means nothing to the Isles, who may start Snow and rest a player or two.

Im hoping for the Flyers to finish 3rd and get the Devils at their weakest. Then the Leafs and Sens would destroy each other leaving the winner wounded, this would most likely be the Leafs.

The 2nd round would be TB V Leafs and Boston V Flyers.

That IMO is the best we can hope for.

Say HURRAY to the B's...home advantage sounds nice, doesn't it?

I am not sure but if you scenario happens it will be a great matchup for you and us.
