BGL at Pearn's camp in Edmonton

Not terribly earth-shattering, but since we're so starved for every relevant Habs-related tidbit right now I thought I'd post it. Perry Pearn is running a 3-on-3 pro camp in Edmonton right now to get guys ready for the main camp next month. Laraque is there getting into shape, so it sounds like he may actually be healthy when the season starts and his rumoured back injury may be overstated.

Here's the link:

He'll be squaring off against Colton Orr in the first game of the season...
I'd be putting money on it!

Komisarek will go with somebody too....Hopefully Stewart is in the lineup.

Honestly I don't think Komisarek will fight us the whole season... I just don't see it happening

I can see Komi fighting a Hab. When he does I just hope it's one that will kick his ass i.e. Mara, Moen maybe Stewart because there's no way he fights BGL.

Wow. This thread took all of a few posts to morph into bunch of 13 year olds talking about kicking ass.

I remember Chipchura was at Pearns camp last year.

Komisarek would absolutely flatten Stewart.

Komisarek and flatten should never be used in the same sentence.

Even when he was with us I used to mention this so I'm not saying this solely because he joined the enemy. But main does this guy doesn't know how to fight! He really doesn't have much of an idea of what he's doing..he just shoves a guy and throws wild punches.

I used to wish for him to take a few boxing classes in the summer so he could work on having some decent jabs, but for obvious reasons I hope he didn't.

That being said, I think a part of why Toronto was appealing to him is because they have a bunch of guys that can fight, so he won't have too anymore.

I will see if I can go check it out. See how BGL is looking.
Not sure if it is open to the public. Its a pretty small rink.

Shane O'Brien is a better fighter than Komisarek and Stewart did fine.

That said, Komisarek won't fight any of the habs. He knows he's more important to the team on the ice, than in the box.

Nor should he fight JBL (I'm aware of what I'm typing). Would be stupid on his part.

I dont see Komi fights anhyh of the Habs he played with. The only guy he may fight would be Moen. My dream fight would be Markov vs Grabo tho.

Agreed on all points. This is why Lucic owned him so hard, Lucic does boxing on the side and brawled his way through the WHL and fights a lot more in NHL whereas Komisarek has no formal fighting training in the art of fisticuffs (yoga doesnt help), and barely any practice in NCAA and NHL. This was clearly the difference when they squared off, Komisarek with his amateur hour technique and Lucic took him to school.

He'll definitely be glad to be relieved of the role of team "big man" on a club full of stiffs like Mayers, Orr and various other meatheads that Burke hopes will distract the fans from the massive lack of talent in T DOT.

No he wouldn't. He would just try to wrestle him and make sure no punches are thrown. He'd probably be so nervous that he forgets Stewart is left-handed and will get clocked good.

BGL getting in shape for the season is a good thing. He was carrying alot of extra weight last year.

As for Komi... who cares. He's not a fighter, and the Laffs have more than enough goons to carry him.

There will be fights in the opener. BGL needs to dress for these games. I see the lineup for HABS/Leafs as

AKost/Gomez/Giont
D'Ago/Pleks/Camm
Lats/Laps/Moen
BGL/Chips/Stewart

Markov/Mara
Hammer/Spacek
Gorges/Gill

Who cares about komisarek. He was never a fighter, we defended him when he didn't fight, now we expect him too? It's not his forte, it's obvious, it sucks for him because he clearly has the physical attributes to be a good fighter but he doesn't do boxing, mma or anything, so he'll continue to stick to his strong suit, bodychecks and blocking shots. I can't complain, I want him to get clocked by a hab but it prob won't happen, and if it does, won't be right away. So i'll let it be. We should be more worried about him crushing our 5 foot something forwards than seeking revenge.

Send O'Byrne against him. The first one to put the bear hold on the other wins.

...and look forward for these same guys to flash around him like he were a pylon, or use him as a screen. Don't ever forget that

Stewart is no better a fighter than Kostopolous. He'll go, but he won't win any.

Kostopolous isn't a fighter, he's a punching bag.
Stewart does throw punches.
