Aaron Voros' role this upcoming season

Obviously this guy is horrible, but what do you think his role will be next season?

Extra forward?
A fixture in the press box?
Hartford?
4th liner?

I think we should let him play the first 10 games of the season, then tell him to get lost. Remember last year? He had like 10 goals in the first 15 games and then he sucked for the next 67 games. I'm pretty sure he did the same thing in Minnesota too. We might as well get something out of him.

To tell you the truth, I thought we got rid of him.

Anyways, here are the possible spots he could be in:
package him in a trade
wavers
an extra to fill in if someones injured
sent down

I hope we send him somewhere bacause we dont need to be carrying dead weight.

The team needs an extra forward. What can you possibly get for him?

He'll get his chance with Gaborik again...but I doubt he is useful at all this season.

my guess is he'll be in charge of handing out towels, and making sure the water bottles are filled between periods.....

If he's anywhere but Hartford I'll be pissed off.

Trade him to Phoenix for a signed photo of Gretzky

I thought Voros would start out as a spare forward, but his spot is in jeopardy now with the acquisition of Prospal. He's going to have to fight hard to earn a spot.

Hopefully he won't ***** and moan about it. Midseason last year, Voros was playing like crap and should have been benched sooner than he was. When Renney finally decided to scratch him, Voros got pissed and Naslund had to calm him down. If Voros makes the team, he'll have to accept his role, whatever it may be. I don't think Torts is going to react kindly to a player throwing himself because he was named a healthy scratch...

I'm just curious how many of you weren't aware that we have Voros signed for another 2 seasons and that he's making $1 mil a season?

Is that a complete joke or what?

Really? I didn't know that...

Voros will probably be scratched... I don't see him playing, even on the 4th line because of all the forwards we signed this offseason.

Voros will play some nights that Brashear or Byers do not. As of this moment, we have the space to keep him up with the team as a spare (one of 2 actually). You might see him on the 4th line opening night if Byers seems to need some more time to shake off the rust. Despite the sentiment that Voros is useless, I completely disagree. I think he's a fine 4th liner.

Yup... according to Weinman this past season:

Quote:
Aaron Voros, meanwhile, was wearing a white jersey during practice and looked sufficiently annoyed afterward—to the point that Markus Naslund sat down next to him in an apparent effort to try to cheer to him up.

He may be more of a Torts' guy than you think. I could see him playing 5 minutes a night on the 4th line.

I dont know if Hartford is a good idea but if they have the cap space I wouldnt be opposed to keeping him around the team as a spare forward for when Brashear doesnt need to play.

Tort's guy in what sense though?

He's not very fast, not good at hitting, and not particularly effective at fore-checking....

Unless one of Tortorella's coaching strategies is "go out there and get your face pummeled", I'd say there's no reason to believe he would be a Torts guy other than the fact that he might play hard... Unfortunately lack of skills prevent his hard-work from paying any dividend on any consistent basis...

It's hard to imagine what Sather saw in Voros to give him that kind of deal. It was prob a panic move after losing Avery looking back at it but it was awful none the less.

Who really cares? At best, he's a cog on the 4th line. Otherwise, he's sitting in the pressbox or playing in Hartford. Either way, if his play has anything much to with the success (or for that matter) the failure of the Rangers, there will be many other problems to point fingers at.

The even bigger question is how many people are aware that Sather really did sign Rissmiller to the same Million dollar per, three year contract! Where the heck does he fit in!

well lets see

first he goes on waivers and no one will claim him before the start of the year

then they either keep him as the 13th F or say screw it and bury him in Hartford the whole year

he can't come back up because of the re-entry rule cause someone will take him at a cap hit of 500K and the Rangers would be stuck paying that on the cap for 2 years

so either 13th F or Hartford all year

oh and Rissmiller goes through the same thing

I’ll be enjoying this season wearing my Voros jersey……. I have seen plenty of hard hits from him, seemed like more when he was in Minnesota. He takes a beating in front of the net and holds his own there which creates opportunities for others to score. After taking some unnecessary penalties he began showing some discipline and not retaliating……

I want all the Rangers to have a great season as I’m sure you all do also……. I want the Rangers to get there moneys worth out of Voros….. we shall see.

I rag on the guy a lot but his effort level is admirable, unfortunately he just doesn't have good hockey skills/ability.

Problem is, who of these 4th line/reserve players isn't exempt? Voros, Rissmiller, Lisin, Arnason, maybe even Parenteau. All guys you can't be sure you're going to be able to get back up from Hartford if you ever need them, none really expected to take a roster spot. Gotta think 1, maybe 2 are going to take a reserve spot. Too early to start guessing who at this point.
