Indeed!

I did some google-fu and he will most likely be in Chicago this season.

Kid's a piece of work, no doubt. Crashes the net too, so he's not just here for goonery. The thing he needs to work on is his skating.

any of our European contingent know anything about Jonathan Johansson? He's been invited to rookie camp...didnt get drafted in 09.

from eilteprospects

"An underrated two-way forward. Takes a lot of responsibility in all areas. An excellent team player with very good puck handling and understanding of the game. Has worked hard to successfully develop his skating. Moves and passes the puck well. Has a good wrist shot and a natural skill to sense opportunities. Fairly all-around and good both offensively and defensively. "

19yrs old, 6'3 200lb Center that can also play the wing...played for Frolunda Jr in Sweden..31gms 18g 12a...intriguing.

and from Red Line Report

"This year, the differences in his game are stunning. He has filled out his 6-3/200 frame and the added leg strength has given him a more powerful stride with a more explosive first step. The added strength and skating agility has, in turn, led to a remarkable upswing in Johansson's confidence in his puck handling ability. While last year he was a checker who looked to get rid of the puck as soon as it touched his stick, now he is running Team Sweden's power play from the half boards and making plays all over the ice. He regularly carries the puck through the neutral zone with speed and makes creative plays coming over the blue line off the rush. And he's winning many of the puck battles in the corners and driving out front with power moves past defenders.

His development in six short months is staggering — it's almost as though we're looking at a different player. And at Red Line we are constantly looking for prospects whose development curve is heading straight upward. We firmly believe Johansson is one of those who fits the bill. Like so many Swedes who are not as physically developed as their North American counterparts at age 18, this kid has a real good chance to be a late bloomer. We've seen that often in the past with Swedes who didn't enter the NHL until they were ready at the age of 23-24 (think Henrik Zetterberg, Niklas Kronwall, Daniel Alfredsson, etc.). Johansson could be a similar case."

No Thrashers in Traverse City for whatever reason...

If it's any consolation, Morin got a point.

Haven't made it out yet, but it appears that Pettersson and Zuberev are the standouts so far at rookie camp. Here's one of the write-ups:

Viasat hockey, bought the broadcasting rights for many seasons prior to 2008-09 and it's their main league really, with KHL and NHL as side kicks. Too bad the on demand service is restricted to Sweden.

P-W started the season today with a 6-1 away win over Sundsvall. He only faced 14 shots, very easy night.

P-W and Almtuna have started a winning streak, 2-1 SD win yesterday vs Malmö(expected top team) and 21 of 22 pucks stopped. Looked solid as usual and the goal was a knucklepuck from the blueline that seemed to deflect on something before it went in. Looks to be a pretty entertaining season, hopefully to SEL qualifier once again

Anyway PW looking great, will most likely battle Lehner for the #1 spot at the WJC.

P-W update: 26 of 28 shots saved y'day night but team lost 3-1 against Leksand away. Kept a clean sheet over the first two periods.

Can you describe what kind of goals he let in?

In the Leksand game one high traffic goal in front and the other a quick snipe in the far corner from close distance.

Just came home from Almtuna-Rögle that ended with a 3-1 win, 26 of 27 shots saved for P-W. A couple of good saves today, his movement is so slick that he always seems to end up getting the shots at the logo. The goal he let in was a bouncing puck over the pads on a 2on1, didn't look totally unstoppable but wasn't a soft one either. Close to a shutout.

BenThrashers

Thrashers trim the roster by 4- send Aliu, Sifers, Mannino and MacIntyre to the Chicago Wolves.

He's not our prospect anymore but it is looking likely that Jeremy Morin has earned a top 6 position with Blackhawks to start the season.

This could be Dudley first big stuff up letting this kid go.

Given Chicago cap trouble I think we could of insisted on keeping Morin (and not requested Aliu) in the trade negotiations and the deal would of still gone through for Atlanta to acquire Byfuglien.

Dudley was obsessed with Aliu as a prospect when he was with Hawks , That is why Tallon took him

Once Dudley left organization the last supporter of Aliu was gone.

I am 100% sure he offered Morin to entice Hawks to give up Aliu

As for Morin ,,,, He is on verge of getting spot. Q hasn't said he is on team but we take this as a sign from Daily Herald article a few days ago

Quote:
Morin, forwards Igor Makarov and Kyle Beach and defenseman Nick Leddy have been those rookies front and center so far at training camp, but only Morin and Makarov found their equipment in the main room and practiced with the veterans
To me that is a pretty good indicator that Makarov and Morin might be winning those open roster spots

Morin would likely start season as our 1st line LW if he does in fact make it

they originally wanted Cormier and settled on Morin. I dont think Aliu was an integral part of the deal either way.

I can see Dudleys thinking. Morin has higher upside but is also a bigger question mark whereas Cormier is a sure fire NHL 3rd liner at worst

Morin was also the only prospective scorer in the system. I hope this trade doesn't blow up in our faces.

Not entirely true; Levko Koper, Ivan Telegin have top 6/9 ability but are a few years out. And obviously Burmistrov.
