Thrashers goalie prospect Alex Kangas (Univ of Minn) severely hurt his hip today in practice and will require surgery. Season and college career likely over
Yikes! That's terrible. What happened exactly? I hope he's alright. Between him and Jesse Martin, it seems our college prospects have been cursed this year.

Thanks for the update.
Add Yasin Cisse, 5th round pick from the 2010 draft, to the college injury list, played one game and suffered a season ending injury. Not a good year for our college guys.
Not sure if it's mentioned here already, but P-W is on his way to the SEL for the remainder of the season. Mainly three teams, SSK, Timra and Lulea are interested and a deal whether loan or not is expected to be done very soon.
P-W to SSK done deal for the remainder of the season. Remains to be seen how they plan to use him, their current goaltenders have pretty underwhelming stats with a .892 and .880 sv% respectively, although the team is pretty bad. Still, it's a step taken in his career.
edit: I stand corrected, the articles in several Swedish papers were false and apparently not totally done deal according to himself, but should be done in the upcoming days.

Klingberg scored today, against Frölunda in 4-2 win for Timrå (4-0 goal). The only time I been happy when my team been scored on, Frölunda were outplayed and embarrassed at that point and Calle steps in and scores. Biggest FU he could ever give.
Carl Klingberg and Fredrik Pettersson-Wentzel have been great for their new club Timrå. Pettersson-Wentzel had 94% in todays game, and have been a big part of the clubs win streak that will take them to the playoffs. Klingberg have 2+2 in five games for Timrå, he had 2+1 in 38 games for Frölunda. I guess he really needed a change of scenery.
o'dell has been less and less impressive to me since we got him. the hossa trade was an utter failure.
Seems a bit harsh. The guys been a ppg player since he was drafted. He had to have heart surgery in the off-season and now seems to be heating up.
This is from HF's On the Rush article for February:
"After experiencing heart palpitations over the summer, Eric O’Dell visited doctors and discovered he suffered from a small hole in his heart that could only be corrected through minor surgery. Since no surgery on the heart is truly minor, O’Dell had to spend a week in the hospital recovering from the successful procedure. After several months of recovery as well as conditioning, O’Dell made his season debut on December 10th.
Although he made his triumphant return in December, it took some time for his offensive game to return. He started to heat up in January and by mid February, he became one of the hottest players in the OHL, going on a six-game, 14 point streak that saw him post two hat-tricks. The offensive explosion couldn’t have come at a better time as the OHL playoff race heats up and Sudbury is battling for a spot. Ranked in the bottom five in the league in offense and possesses an equally porous defense, the Wolves need all the offense they can get."

He's now got 35 points in 29 games.
not saying he's bad or anything, but i thought he would end up being better than he is by now
he still has an outside shot at being a top sixer though
That's a silly statement. Marian Hossa was a pending UFA that wasn't going to resign here. What we got from Colby Armstrong alone more than offset the 20 games of Hossa we gave up. Anything and everything else is gravy.

Just a little update on O'Dell. Saw the Wolves live for the first time this season.
First, let me state that I've always been a fan of his as a prospect. Just a smart player, plays both ends of the ice and has the skill and vision to put up points.
He's never been an elite skater, which IMO has always held him back a little bit (on top of playing in Sudbury). But today, he looked the slowest he has since he first came into the league. That offseason off from conditioning, clearly set back the improvements he was making in his stride and acceleration.
I still like him as a prospect...especially since I think he could actually develop into a guy who can play anywhere in the line up, but I also think he's going to take some time. You'll have to be patient with him IMO. This offseason will be HUGE for him, to gain that leg strength before hitting the pros next year.
