Who will be this years scape goat??

Every year since as long as I can remember this team has had a scape goat. And while some players have sucked consistently from year to year, the scape goat always seems to be different each year.

Malik, Redden, Kalinen, etc...

Who will be this years?

Redden. He's still the most obvious target.

I actually think Redden will turn it around and have a good season. I've liked what I've read this offseason from torts regarding redden and how he supposedly going to be prepared this year. He better be under torts otherwise he's gonna be experiencing hell.

I kinda wanted to vote no one. I think torts will really have an effect on this team. The players that signed here this offseason knew what they were getting into when they put their signature on the dotted line. Prospal had is battles with torts in tampa and still chose to come here. Kotalik and gaborik signed on. Kotalik is rejoining the captain chris drury who I believe he will play hard being that they played together in buffalo. When kotalik signed, in one of his comments for the press, he referred to drury has the captain right off the bat. To me that shows respect.

All in all...I think this team is going to play hard and perform well.

Of course it will be Redden again.

Its always a defenseman. It will be Redden, no matter how good/bad he plays.

People already have a set opinion on him that will never change no matter how he plays because of his salary.

He could put up 30 goals, then have a bad game and would get blamed for everything.

But he doesn't put up 30 goals. People don't like him because he isn't a very effective player in any sense of the word. He single handedly costs us another star player thanks to his cap hit.

I voted for other because I think the scapegoat will be Glen Sather as usual, and possibly it could end up being Tortorella depending on how he utilizes the lineup and for the way he ends up disciplining players.

Kotalik. He's a good player but there are a lot of people here who are expecting him to be something he's not.

Dubi is primed for the Prucha treatment. You can see it starting in certain threads already.

I think when people find out Kotalik cannot "quarterback" a power play they will start blaming him.

Captain Valium is made of teflon so I doubt he'll ever be a Garden whipping boy. His fanboys will always site the "intangibles" and the way he chews his binky, opps, I mean mouth piece.

I chose Kotalik, who I've always wanted although not under this summer's circumstances, for the Rangers. I don't believe there anyone on the team that can get him the puck in shooting position. If we get a center that will slot Captain Nyquil and his $7mm on the 2nd or 3rd line Ican see him producing at his usual 40-50 pt pace. Otherwise, it could get ugly. Most can live with Prospal's great contract for one year, but 3 years @ $3mm+ paints a "kick-me" sign on his back.

Kotalik. If he doesnt put pucks in the net every single time on our Power Play and makes one defenseive gaff that results in a goal, he is toast.

Redden was so last year.

Exactly. It will probably be Redden but he was already the scapegoat last year so he's too boring a pick.

We need a new scapegoat.

It's gonna be close between Redden and Kotalik. And both mostly beecause of their contracts....

I voted Kotalik because I feel that people will still compare his production to Nicky Z and if he under performs the will be atleast one "what if we kept Zherdev threads"....I am sure ill be complaining about someone by olympic break

Ha, yes.

Went with Redden... People hate his contract and think he's terrible, even though he's not.

Redden is the obvious choice because of the contract and his mediocre play. But leaving him out... I have a gut feeling that Kotalik will take some heat this season.

Kotalik could get some crap if he falls flat on his face or Z signs with somebody and plays well. But, it will be Wade.
