The Weeknd - Echoes of Silence, 8.0/10

Late pass. These guys just keep putting out dope ****. His voice is incredible and they've definitely fine tuned their sound. Some new age R&B. Has to be one of the major up and coming artists.

The United States of America - s/t: 8/10

It's interesting, sounds really great for something from the 60's.

Slade Box set 10/10

Complete look at the band from 69 to 86 and the good the bad and the ugly. For those who do not know who slade is--they are a glam rock from the 70/80 who are best known for C'mon feel the noise and We're all crazy now--both covered by Quiet Riot. When Bon Scott died Noddy Holder was one of the singers that auditioned for the vacant slot with ACDC--Noddy told the band he was burned out and would only sing for a few more years.

The Quine Tapes \ The Velvet Underground - 3/5
Highlights: Ride Into the Sun (best version available by far), Heroin, 34-minute version of Sister Ray that starts out mellow, and Maureen Tucker's two songs (they weren't amazing, but kind of an adorable moment).

Not as good as 1969 Live (both in terms of sound and performance) but better than the other ones.

Chromatics - Kill For Love, 9/10

I'd give it a 10 but I just can't hand those out anymore for whatever reason, lol... seriously though, this album was/is perfect to me. Sounds like it's part 2 to the Drive soundtrack kind of. But that's Chromatics for ya, that's the vibe they give, the atmosphere and aura they create with their music. It's hypnotic, it's deep, it's bouncy, it's lush, dark... amazing album, but not for everyone probably. Pretty ambitious group.

Just bought these two albums today.

Metric - Synthetica 7/10

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals - The Lion The Beast The Beat - 8/10

Both are very solid. They've been on repeat all day.

Youth Lagoon for me is one of those artists that I have on my iPhone, and I really like, but for whatever reason I'll skip a lot, or won't think to play it And then every once in a while, I'll let it play and be like "Hooooooollllllly ******************k!!" Montana and July in particular just make me want to fly, or melt, or something else cliche. So, it's almost like it's so good that I make sure I don't listen to it too much so it stays special.

I know exactly what you mean. I find myself doing that with certain artists the minute I start to hear them on the radio or XM. I did it with Mumford and Sons, The Head and the Heart, Of Monsters and Men, and currently doing it with the Lumineers.

Ambient 4/On Land \ Brian Eno - 5/5
Selected Ambient Works II \ Aphex Twin - 4/5
EP's 1988-1991 \ My Bloody Valentine - 4/5

I Care Because You Do \ Aphex Twin - 3.5/5
Karma \ Pharoah Sanders - 3.5/5
Colossal Youth \ Young Marble Giants - 3.5/5
Daydream Nation - 3.5/5 (liking it less and less-- I think earlier on, I was just won over really easily by Teen Age Riot)

Jaco Pastorius \ Jaco Pastorius - 3/5
Atom Heart Mother \ Pink Floyd - 3/5

(Suddenly had the idea that psychadelic ambience would be a cool combination, so tried some stuff recommended from the 'Psybient' genre. I thought it kinda sucked, personally)

In Search of a Meaningful Moment \ Schulman - 2/5
Nothing Lasts.. But Nothing is Lost - 1.5/5
Are You Shpongled \ Shpongled - 1/5
Tales of the Inexpressible \ Shpongled - 1/5

Recent Favorite Songs:
1. Dead Souls (Joy Divison) - For some reason, this needed to grow on me
2. Tal Coat (Brian Eno)
3. 2/2 (Brian Eno)
4. Graveyard (PIL)
5. First Light (Brian Eno)
6. Neighborhood of Infinity (Fall)
7. Tempo House (Fall)
8. Lichen (Aphex Twin)
9. Machine Gun (Hendrix)
10. Honey Power (MBV)
11. Teen Age Riot (Sonic Youth single version) - I prefer this version
12. Rubarb (Aphex Twin)
13. Breaking into Heaven (Stone Roses)

I'm starting to run out of things I want to try again. Any more recommendations (individual albums or entire genres that I should try to plow through?)

Luca Turilli's Rhapsody - Ascending to Infinity 9/10

Some amazing tracks on here. The vocals are absolutely top notch. As with many of Rhapsody's albums, there's usually one song I'm not a fan of since it's too slow for my liking. In this case, it's Luna. I love this sound in general with a symphony playing along side a metal band.

8/10. Great album, especially if you're in a good mood and the sun is out.
