Gobble Gobble - Neon Graveyards 7/10

Interesting album, one review I read said "sounds like Black Moth Super Rainbow and Animal Collective jamming in 1987".

(also, its free to download here)

DevilDriver - Pray for Villains

It didn't blow me away but it was a solid DD album. They kept their sound and didn't mess with a good thing which was good.

7/10

I went through the entire Radiohead library last week...

Radiohead - Pablo Honey - 7.5/10 (I was completely taken aback by this album. This sounds nothing like their newer work.)
Radiohead - The Bends - 8.5/10 (If Radiohead made more albums like this, I would understand why they're so popular. This was great stuff, a blend of mellow and edgy, but not garbled or pretentious.)
Radiohead - O.K. Computer - 6/10 (Not terrible, but I wasn't a fan of the computerized voices, and the album started to lose its punch at "Karma Police.")
Radiohead - Kid A - 2.5/10 (People bought this?)
Radiohead - Amnesiac - 2/10
Radiohead - Hail To The Thief - 3.5/10
Radiohead - In Rainbows - 1.5/10 (I'm tempted to just not score it because the music was utterly incomprehensible.)

Other albums I've listened to over the past week or so...

Coldplay - Parachutes - 8.5/10
Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head - 8/10
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand - 9.5/10
Franz Ferdinand - Tonight - 6.5/10 (They went in a very different direction with their sound, and while it has grown on me as I've listened to it more, it's still far from their finest work.)
Muse - Absolution - 9/10
Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris - 8/10 (Don't listen to this album at night. You'll get attacked by alien vampire ninja zombies.)
The Shins - Wincing The Night Away - 7.5/10 (The first eight or nine tracks are great, but it kind of tails off at the end for me.)
Reel Big Fish - Why Do They Rock So Hard? - 5/10
Weezer - Weezer (The Blue Album) - 7/10
Weezer - Pinkerton - 6/10 (It's like they stopped halfway through and said, "Hey, let's make the second half of this record exponentially better than anything we've ever done before!")

Currently revisiting Tyrannosaurus Hives.

The Hives - Tyrannosaurus Hives - 9.5/10

This is the band's finest album. It's quirky, occasionally delving into intentional stupidity; it's full of energy, just like everything else the band has put out; and above all, it's a ton of fun, rather than laborious, to listen to. While the music lacks the complexity of many contemporary alt rock artists, the band compensates by making amplifiers explode and maintaining this sophomoric charm throughout the record.

This record is a must-have for any fan of rock music, particularly punk rock or garage rock. Hopefully they'll get back to formula for their fifth album and continue to produce the balls-to-the-wall rock that I have come to love.

In conclusion: Sweden is awesome, and so is this record.

Metallica - Kill Em All

Wow, I haven't listened to this in years. Lots of good cuts on here. It's only real flaws are a lack of variety and some questionable singing at times (really, this could be said about any Metallica album). Not quite as good as their next three albums. 8/10

System of a Down-Toxicity

10/10

I'd say it's in the top 5 of metal CD's released this decade. It should also be in the upper echelons of general releases this decade as well.

Soulfly—Dark Ages—Max Cavalera, formerly of Sepultura, occassionally combines metal with influences from his native Brazil. One might be excused for thinking that a really bad idea, but Cavalera pulls it off with panache: 7.5/10
Charlatans UK—Melting Pot—best of collection by a great band that just seemed to get lost in the 90’s shuffle: 8/10
Tinariwen--Aman Iman : Water is Life--desert nomads with electric guitars, who’d a thought?; maybe the best album of ‘07: 9/10
Doves—Kingdom of Rust--one of the better albums of this year by a consistently inventive and underrated band: 7.5/10

Mos Def- The ecstacy: It's so refreshing to hear a good new rap album. Best new album I've heard in a while. 9.3/10

Yeah that's the thing about radiohead. A lot of people can't stand the newer abstract stuff. But I won't start a radiohead thread hijacking .

More likely because most people didn't care for them. I don't have any of their albums, but I saw them live about 8 or 9 years ago, headlining on a tour with Starsailor. I wasn't too impressed with their music.

8.5/10

Haven't been able to get a few of the songs out of my head. Just very cool blues music.

...and obviously a lot of people ended up feeling the same way that you did; you might try a "best of" like Melting Pot, though--the stuff that accentuated the organ was what I thought set the Charlatans apart. I'd take them over Stone Roses any day and I like Stone Roses.

John Lennon—Plastic Ono Band---rock stripped down to the fundamental essensials 10+/10
Cascabulho—Hunger Gives You a Headache—mangue beat (forro accordian mixed with rock mixed with a lot of world influences) from Recife region in northeast Brazil 7/10
Djavan--Matizes—jazzy, breezy Brazilian popular music that combines a host of traditional and modern influences 8/10
Radiohead—In Rainbows—becoming one of my all time favourite albums—10+/10
