Sam Gagner Vs Ryan Kesler

Simple question. If you had to pick one of these players to have on your team for now and years to come. Which one would it be.

LOL what kind of comparison is this? Why not compare similar players?

I'm pretty sure most people will pick Kesler. I think Gagner has the higher ceiling in terms of productionthough, but he's not a great checker like Kesler.

It's pretty obvious Gagner is going to win this because its taking the future into consideration....
Kesler is the superior player currently though.

Now, do you feel much better inside if Gagner gets more votes?

I'm not even voting on this. They're totally different players of totally different ages.

This.... Gagner's potential is of a #1 Center who can hopefully score 80+ pts at his peak while Kesler doesn't have that high ceiling but as of now Kesler is the superior player and has become a very good 2 way center (2nd-3rd liner) which i believe will be his ceiling but is also valuable to any team.

Gagner is not a better player right now. 5 years down the road I expect that to change, but going into the 09/10 season Kesler is far better overall hockey player than Gagner.

I vote Gagner but with the Homers from each team, things will be even

Didn't Gagner beat up Kesler in his rookie year lol...

I picked Gagner, but Kesler is a hell of a player. I wish the Oilers had a 2nd/3rd line center like him.

I like Kesler a lot, he is my favorite Canuck. He was always an underdog, a tough player who no one ever noticed. Then he was put on a line with Mats Sundin and Pavol Demitra and had a career year.

Why this poll is dumb? Kesler is 25 and Sam Gagner just turned 20. Sam Gagner's two seasons as an 18 and 19 year old are better than any season Kesler put up, until this year.

Kesler is easily the better player right now, but I think it is safe to say we have seen the best from Kesler... as in playing on a hot team, and being linemates with a 3 time all-star and HHOF'er.

This is like Jamie Langenbrunner versus Marc Savard.

No, not even close. Gagner lost the fight.

good call ... considering we have an entire careers work to draw on, Langenbrunner has easily been the much better player than Savard. unless of course someone values the stats sheet over the score board.

I take Kesler and Lagenbrunner.

Kesler has already proven himself as an elite 2-way forward. Until Gagner reaches his potential, I'd stick with Kesler.

Kesler but I'm biased as he's one of my favorite players that plays the brand of hockey I like.

Not really a great source. Watch the video. Kesler hits him twice in the face/head and Gagner hits Kesler like 3-4 times in the shoulder/arm.

How Gagner comes out with the win is beyond me. It was barely a fight anyhow.

Don't forget, Kesler is a Selke trophy nominee.
