maybe so - this is where the sharks shine in finding players like this, many of which become a success in the NHL.

Won't there be plenty of time to bash him after we see him play? Let's enjoy the fantasy that this is the guy we've be waiting for to plant his ass in front of the net and take the pounding necessary to get those ugly goals

Also, I would think people with his last name would normally have it pronounced "Fur-rare-oh". But what I've heard from broadcasters is "ferry-oh" (ie, a silent 'r'). Is that right?

It was explained to me in the GDT. He is Italian and the R at the end is silent (unlike it would be in Spanish) -> Ferry-oh

His name is NOT short for Benjamin, hence the two n's. Much like when someone is named Gregg (as opposed to Greg, which is short for Gregory).

It funny reading this thread, seeing how people seem to be high on him now.

Come on Doug you should have signed him to a 5 year deal at that price. No need to worry for a long time about certain spots. j/k

I would think it would be fairy-ehro. But that's only going off of a single Italian course I took. lol

Yeah that's how I pronounced it until I was told otherwise in the news article.

Nah, I took Italian but it was just introductory stuff. Nothing really particular about certain things. Just basic pronunciation of letters and just off of that, it would be as I put it but I know there's more to languages than that which is why I don't question it. lol

Certainly not Dany Heatley's parents who named their kid with 1 "n".

Heatley was born in Germany, where Dany is spelled with only one n
