Here's My Best Case Scenario

Boston #2 Seed (101 Points) 3 Games Remaining

Washington, New Jersey, New Jersey

Philly #6 (98 Points) 3 Games Remaining

Montreal, Ottawa, New York Isles

Jersey #3 (98 Points) 2 Games Remaining

Boston, Boston

-----------------

What I would love to see is the Flyers win out. They have JR back, Rico is on his way as is Primes. If Jersey can do us a favor and sweep Boston in the final two games, that will leave NJ with 102 points, the Flyers with 104 and Boston with (assuming they beat Washington) 103. The Flyers would then be #2 seed (which I so very much desire) and play Montreal in round one.

No matter how it turns out, it will be a GREAT playoffs this year, but please hockey gods, give the flyers three wins, boston a loss and the devils a serious case of herpes.

IMO the best case is:
No more injuries.
No rust on Desjardins, Primeau, and Roenick.
Esche stops playing like ****.
Pitkanen elevates his play.
Malakhov gets back soon.
The PP starts scoring.
The PK starts stopping goals.
Ottawa and Toronto finish 4-5.
The refs stop calling Brashear penalties for being Brashear.
Radivojevic elevates his play.

Don't Care Really (I don't like Malakhov about as much as I didn't like Therien)
AGREE! Power play NEEDS to shape up

Agree... I think it's BS the crap they call on him.

Malakhov is better than Therien. A healthy Malakhov is very important to this team. He's big and was starting to use his size. His shot from the point is low and heavy, that should equal LeClair garbage goals. They were also trying to work him into Pitkanen's spot on the PP before the injury.

Radivojevic is a good 4th liner. He can score, but for some reason he doesn't shoot. He's a much better player than he's showed us thus far.

everyone stays healthy
Esche plays with confidence and more crappy goals.
Hitch doesnt sit Pitkanen once Malahkov gets back
GET Sami off the PP and put Pitkanen back on it and Rico running the 2nd PP unit

He has shown signs of being much more than just a 4th liner. I fear he will suffer from Justin Williams syndrome if he's stuck playing with just checkers. Him and JR looked in synch the other night.

The Flyers win all 3 games.
The Devils win the Back to back games against Boston.
The Leafs lose a game.
That means the Flyers get 2nd place and an easy matchup.

The realistic scenario is the Flyers screw up and get 6th seed against NJ.

correct me if i'm wrong, but I've looked and looked at the standings and I see the Flyers still have a magic # of five points. This means if Boston wins one of the home and home with Jersey, I really think we're in. Just to warn you all, I don't see us beating the Sens on Friday, if we squeeze a point, fine.

This is really shaping up to be a great playoffs, rivalry matchups...we're most likely playing jersey, toronto and ottawa, boston and montreal. tampa will get off lucky and beat the isles in 5, too bad we couldn't get the top seed. There are going to be three beaten and tired teams emerging from the first round, all plays to tampa's advantage.

I really don't think the Isles will go off easy. They have been doing pretty good lately and a healthy Rick Dipietro should help them out. They have one of the best defensive corps in the NHL and a great captain in Mike Peca. I doubt very highly they will be a walk in the park, especially with the success they have had against TB this year. This would likely be the only upset that can possibly happen.

And it puts a HUGE exclamation point on just how important the regular season really is to all of those who say it's nothing more than a meaningless warm up. Look at what the #1 seed did for the Devs last year, when they beat us out by 1 point in the standings.

This series would be the only one in the East where I would be able to even say a certain team (the Isles in this case) winning would be an upset. All of the other teams in the East are so evenly matched, any outcome of those series wouldn't be an upset, IMO.

Realistic best case scenarios:

Flyers out in 5 games in 1st round.
Flyers score 10 golas in the series.

This team is TOAST!!! They are playing like they strapped on some cement skates. Totally unenthused. Esche has totally lost it, his confidence is shot. Burke ain't gonna cut it.

They will be out in six.
10 goals over six games it a good guess.

Prediction: It won't be the goaltending that costs us, but the team won't be able to score.
