I never understood how Flames fan can make fun of Edmonton for being cold. Calgary is 2 and a half hours south of us. Yes they get some chinooks but it gets cold there too.
I think it has more to do with the fact that our hockey team sucks rather than which city is more vibrant/attractive.
Just look at Detroit or Philadelphia, two of the nastiest cities in NA, but they don't get black labelled as Detroilet/Filthadelphia because their franchise is successful.
Based on what? Do you have some kind of secret info because according to the players that were interviewed on thepipelineshow Bucky's system was dump pucks off the glass and then chase it. He finished in last or near last in almost every statistical category in his only head coaching experience.
For the record I don't even mind Bucky because I think he's being employed as the "If I can do it anyone can do it" type coach and will be a guy that the players will be able to talk to. I think he's only going to be used for the motivational side of things.
Well...I don't know much about Fleming but this comment gave me a chuckle. I frequented more than a few games back when Bucky was behind the bench with the Edmonton Roadrunners. I typically sat right behind the team bench because I was interested in how the coaches ran things and I wanted to hear some of the banter. I'll be damned if Bucky didn't spend a inordinate amount of time (in each game) repeatedly checking out any hot girls that were sitting close by. At one point (approx halfway through the 2nd period IIRC) I remembered saying to my buddy "yeah, okay, those girls look pretty good but shouldn't Bucky be a little more focused on the game"

Based on the fact I am an Oiler fan who has listened to him talk and his peers talk of him for years, also references from many sides before and after he was done playing. I guess you heard a couple players on the pipeline show, soo....
You can think what you want, but I know for a fact he is doing a heck of a lot more then throwing high fives around. I will leave it at that, and laugh at the people ignorantly ripping on someone they dont even know what his job consists of.

Yeah, he is a smart hockey guy--just doesn't really have all the tools to be a head guy (not hockey-wise but otherwise...if that makes sense lol).
He will be a great addition to the coaching staff Renney and Flemming will be shouldering a lot of the load while Quinn is the talking head in the media. There will be some good one-liners coming out of Quinn that's for sure, just like with MacT so the oilers won't be missing anything there.
The more I think about it, this was a great move for the oilers. Really smart.
