Hey guys, just wanted to bring this up again as its still unresolved. (Im a DTV customer) I tried to get versus today because i wanted to watch my old football team play and i talked to a bunch of people on the phone and there is NO WAY that I can get versus. any one else find a solution or a place online where you can get streaming versus feeds? I'm going to be very upset if I cant watch opening night.

There will be video streams of the game, without a dobt. So worse comes to worse, you'll be able to watch on your comp.

Had Comcast for the last 7 years. Just moved today into a house with Direct TV.

Damn the luck.

I'm from up north. Humboldt County, near Oregon. Not only does our local cable co. (Suddenlink) not offer CSN-CA, but neither does DirecTv. At least the games aren't televised. I can watch all the home gym info-mercials or male enhancement programs I want, but not any actual sports.

DirecTv has sent me an e-mail saying that they will not block out the A's games next year, but this year they will block out the Sharks games. They also promised that if I bought Center Ice, I would be able to see the Sharks play, though. Nice of 'em, huh?

NHL pushing DTV and Vs. to "prioritize the needs of NHL fans". (IOW get a deal done.)

I've sent letters to my Sharks account manager, DTV, Comcast, and Versus. Screw protecting the broadcasting channel with blackouts, what about the paying customer??

I called Direct Tv today to complain.

All I got was $10 off my bill for the next 6 mos and 3 months free Showtime.

The guy on the phone couldn't have cared less.

I am not a happy customer.

Got to love Dish Network, but seriously the NHL needs to drop Vs. they always show crap games and the playoffs are a joke its all East coast and then a ripped broadcast from the Home teams Local broadcast. Last year's ******** with the Sharks was so lame, I almost murdered Primeticket and KDIC(or whatever its called).

Dish Network gives out a list of places around SJ (not any other local town... grrrr) where people can watch the season opener on Versus.

PR email to team beat writer. Wouldn't be surprised to hear similar information sent out to all other 23 US team beat writers.

Hate having games on Versus ... I have Dish Network and have to pay $10 more a month for a package that Versus is the ONLY channel I will watch and ONLY when the Sharks are on it ... I'll will most likely be canceling Versus for the moths of Nov. Jan. and Feb.

Still, up yours DTV.

I have been thinking of doing the exact same thing. I don't really watch it in the summer months, although my husband likes the Tour de France.

I thought Dish had made that channel available at the lower tier recently as an up yours to Direct TV. Guess not.

Here's what DIRECTV has to say on the matter...

Unfortunately, Versus is no longer available on DIRECTV. As you may know, Comcast, the largest cable company in the U.S. and our largest competitor, owns the channel and has forced us to pull it down. Here is the situation.

DIRECTV was already paying Comcast more than any other non-Comcast distributor to air Versus - and now Comcast is demanding an overall rate hike of 20% on top of that. Comcast also forces DIRECTV to make Versus available to a much larger portion of our customer base at our own expense than they require from other TV providers - most notably, DISH Network. We simply cannot accept these unfair and outrageous terms. All we're asking from Comcast is equal treatment.

Comcast and Versus are currently engaged in a noisy publicity campaign to distract attention from the fact that they are trying to take advantage of DIRECTV and our customers. The bottom line is this, if we were to accept their unreasonable demands, we would have no choice but to pass on the increase in cost to our valued customers. We do not want this to happen, especially in these difficult economic times. That's why we're standing firm in our negotiations with Comcast.

Regardless, we will continue to work in good faith with Comcast to try to reach a fair and just settlement. Our commitment to deliver the best TV service for the best price is and has always been our first priority. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

If you're going to stick with DTV, you should call again and try to get at least Center Ice half off. We just switched from Comcast to DTV about a month ago, and they still gave us Center Ice for free this year.

Call directv and say your neighbor or friend was given NHL Center Ice for free because of the complications with Versus and they might give it to you for free.

Directv just gave to me for free today.
