Probably not a bad idea, but no one is really using it.

New England Hockey Journal reporting Kessel to St. Louis.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but I think we're screwed.

Definitely would be a major blow in terms of strength within the conference, but we have to see what the return is going to Boston and also remember for at least this season that Kessel is out several months due to surgery...

That's true, but the Blues have more than enough offense to simply tread water until he gets healthy.

I mean, imagine the lines in St. Louis if they trade picks and prospects for Kessel...

Kariya-Backes-Kessel
Tkachuk-McDonald-Boyes
Perron-Berglund-Oshie

I know there's a lot of fragility there, but if that forward corps is firing on all cylinders, it's a Cup team.

I think we had already been clearly surpassed by St Louis...maybe even last year, if they had been healthy.

The only team we can truly "compete" with on paper is the Blue Jackets, though I do give them a slight edge at the moment.

I think they have the better forward corps, but we have the better defense. Goaltending is a push.

I prefer Captain Kangaroo to my former incubator, though. Trotz has, in ten years, never significantly illustrated the ability to adapt to the timbre of a game. He's been fortunate to have a grinding system that is often quite successful, but when teams throw something that work around it (two blowout games vs the Sabres really show this, IMO) it becomes a monkey-screwing-a-football type of situation. The philosophy is "grind it out, dump it in until it stops working...then grind it out and dump it in some more." Hitch, though also a defensive-minded coach, relies more on strategy, and I think that gives them the overall edge.

Kessel is the one guy I wanted this offseason. I would've been willing to see the Preds give up a lot for him.

Grrrr. We are screwed.

Edit: Was that thread taken down? I tried to click on page two and got an error and now don't see it. Oh please, please have that report have been an error...!

the Blues will be tough this year for sure. we can split that series

I think that we can take a series from Cbus and Chicago. Even though some think that the HAWKS ARE POISED TO RULE THE CENTRAL!

That rumor was debunked by the Journal about 24 hours after the headline was released.

Gaborik missed the first practice with the Rangers. Reports said he was feeling "achy."

Sykora signs a contract with Minnesota. 1 year, $1.6M.

Looks to me like we're going with what we've got.
