Boston is losing 4-2 right now to NJ in the third. If Ottawa wins tonight against the Leafs they will clinch the North East division title and meet Montreal in the first round (unless the habs finish 8th...).

The Bruins have Thorton down day-to-day with an injury, which could help the habs out a little more if he were to stay injured. I don't think the habs can beat Ottawa... I don't want to see the habs play them in the first round. I'd prefer them to play Tampa Bay over Ottawa.

Here are the possible outcomes:

Senators win tonight: Sens-Habs first round series

Habs lose/NYI wins: Tampa Bay-Habs first round series

Habs win(or NYI loses)/Ottawa loses/Boston wins tomorrow: Bruins-Habs first round

Look how much has to happen for the habs to play the bruins in the first round...

And if Leafs win tonight and Boston lose tomorrow which will most likely to happen, we play tha Leafs. I don't see how Sens will lose this one but would it be preferable to play TBay or TO?

We have a better chance against TBay, Sens or TO will be a tougher challenge but a lost tonight won't do any good to our troup moral...

I just don't want to play Ottawa. They play a speed game like us, but they do it so much better and unless Lalime really stunk it up we wouldn't stand a chance.

Yeah I was just looking at the standings... its true. But I'd rather play the Leafs than the Senators in the first round. The Senators have the habs number like no other team in the league (well Florida...). The habs have a better chance against the Leafs than they do against Ottawa. Here's how I rank what teams I want the habs to play against:

1. Boston
2. Toronto
3. Tampa Bay
4. Ottawa

I cheer for TORONTO. It's gonna be so wild at the Bell Center if we get the Leafs, and I've got tickets. If not, I hope we get Boston. Ottawa at last, because I think that it won't be a great playoffs matchup, and our chance to win are so thin. Oops, there's also TB. It will be almost the same match-up with Habs-Sens.

1 - Leafs
2 - Bruins
3 - Sens
4 - Lightning

I've gone from excited to anxious. Part of me wants TB, but isn't that underestimating them a little? I really, really want to play Boston, but that doesn't look so likely anymore.

The Leafs are even more anoying when you see their Bandwagon fans everyday. Same with the Sens.

You are forgetting one option

Habs win tonight

Ottawa - Toronto tie

Boston wins tomorrow

Habs play Boston, Laffs start on the road in Ottawa :-)

I want a tie

For any of you that want the Leafs to win in regulation time tonight, check the following thread:

http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=67513

It has all the possible scenarios that could occur if the Leafs win tonight. If the Habs don't get a point tonight and the Isles win tomorrow, you guys face Tampa.

Otherwise, just look at the team seeded #2 in that thread, and that's who you'll play.

I'd much rather face Ottawa first than face a "fresh" Toronto. I'd like to see the old laffs get a bit beat up and tired before potentially facing them in playoff hockey. Toronto will get beat up and tired... inevitable for their team. Ottawa could build up serious momentum, but we match up better with them for a first round matchup as far as speed and size and goaltending (a fresh Belfour is potentially dangerous, but he'll fade round by round... Lalime is okay, but could get hotter as the playoffs go on).

The difference between playing TO and Boston is that Boston is a dirty team but TO is a dirty team and they have Marchment. The guy's a spare part at best so he can go out and hurt someone like Koivu, Zed, whoever, get suspended and the Leaves won't lose a key player.

Montreal's all time playoff records against:

Boston:
22 - 7
Last meeting: 2002
Result: Montreal wins 4 - 2

Toronto:
7 - 6
Last meeting: 1979!
Result: Montreal wins 4 - 0

Somebody may want to confirm those Leaf numbers.

Either way, the first round is THE Stanley Cup in my mind!

GO HABS GO!

Another strong game from mush tonight, pretty good for just a 'spare part'.

You cleary have no idea what you are talking about, so it would be best if you just stopped typing.
