Question about Matt Greene

hey oiler fan here with a question for King fans. Greene was on the oilers to start his career and while i loved the guy he was mainly a 5/6 d-man.

Just curious what you guys thought of his play last year and what do you think his potential is?
Where are the coaches of the Kings gonna slot him in this up coming season? Does he fit in your top 2 at some point?

Thanks.

He should remain a 5/6 D-man. He's definitely a warrior, but lacks puck moving skills. He makes up for it by blocking shots on a consistent basis.

He will NOT be on the top defensive pairing IMO and if you're thinking about adding him in your fantasy draft I would highly recommend against it. Draft Jack Johnson in the lower rounds instead as he MIGHT break out.

As soon as he came from the Oilers, he became 7 foot tall, consumed opposing forwards with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.

Yeah I would say he is still a 5th/6th d-man, but he brings some much to the team and I think DL and TM are both happy with his play and his role as am I.

Matt's play improved last year by quite a bit. Last year, He was a 3/4 d man and will be again this year

This. 5/6? I'm having a hard time believing some of you are serious.

I'm curious why Kings fans would think he is a 5th/6th dman. He gets paid like a 3rd/4th guy and played top 4 minutes most of last year. That more than likely won't change because I'm sure O'Donnell's minutes are going to be scaled back because of his age and Johnson will replace Quincey's minutes.

He is a good shot blocker, penaltly killer and physical defenseman. The guy is certainly a warrior but does lack puck moving skills. He pretty much has zero offensive ability.

We'd be contenders if Greene was 5/6 on our team. We'd definatley have the most elite defense in the league.

Greene is a solid 4, prolly put him #3 in our team because I don't think Johnson is better than him, yet...

In my opinion-he's got the skills of a #5 d-man, but wills his way to the #4 spot by playing hard every night, and not trying to outdo his skillset.

I think you just described Matty Norstrom.

Greene is a 2nd pairing Old style defensive defenseman with zero offensive production. That said, his heart and effort make up for alot, and the guy can be guaranteed to sacrifice body (and face) to make a stop. There is always room on any team for a guy with those credentials.

basically i don't have a problem to put him on a top 4 pairing.

The reason ?????????

He is the stay at home defenseman we lacked since Norstrom was traded.
He will is the perfect backup for Johnsons and Doughtys offensive flys...
Scuderi will be the other one. That gives us 2 lines with an offensive and one defensive defender....
a perfect fit

i still get pumped up thinking about that shot to the face. he got up, continued to play, then went over to quicky to congratulate him on the victory, all before even worrying about the blood gushing out of his face. that guy has more heart that some teams entire rosters!

He's a 5th/6th defenseman on a GOOD team. On the Kings he's a 3rd/4th. This is pretty self explanatory here.

I think he can be top 4 on a "good team". The guy is just now coming into his own, the perfect age to enter his prime as a defenseman, and I believe he will continue to emerge as one of the more valuable stay-at-home D's in the league.
