More than likely. Moore would be getting a shot likely too.

What kind of precursor move woud this be? Does Wilson plan on taking on even more salary (hence trading for two prospects)?

The only player that would make sense would be Heatley, but didn't Murray want Erhoff in the first place?

i honestly believe this is a move to make a move with ottawa. since ottawa is over the cap, the sens now can send heatley and 1 other player the sharks way for less salary going to ottawa.

I'm pretty sure I read that if we don't sign/re-sign White, we get Vancouver's 2nd rounder (not sure on the year). So, in essence, we did get a 2nd rounder so long as DW doesn't resign White.

Does this make any sense as a precursor to the Heatley deal?
Doesn't Ottawa want/need d-men? I am very confused.

Just putting it out there...could this be a precursor to acquiring Kessel?

I'd rather have Sharp. Kessel is gonna be out till December.

This pisses me off.

I don't care what the next deal is, we got molested in this one. What an utterly crap return.

Thanks DW, way to suck.

I am Canucks fan... which, by association, now means I'm also a Doug Wilson fan.

Sorry, even if this was a salary dump, the Sharks got completely fleeced in this deal. You have to think some team would've at least given a 2nd rounder for Erhoff.

Patrick White is entering his senior year playing on the third line of an NCAA team. Last year I believe he was outscored by rookies on his own team. He is a certifiable bust and, until now, has been the laughing stock of the Canucks franchise and a symbol of the very questionable Dave Nonis drafting era.

Daniel Rahimi is toiling in the ECHL and is not young anymore. There is certainly an outside chance you'll be able to develop him into a 6th d-man on a mediocre NHL team, but his future looks to be in the AHL. Even *before* this trade, when the Canucks were slim on defensive depth, he was about 10th on the depth charts, after names like Jim Rome, Yann Sauve, and Nathan McIver. The only real upside I can see to Rahimi is that he's big and has a mean streak.

If we had traded these two for just Lukowich, I'd still be reasonably pleased.

Absolute joke of a trade.

Not even a 7th round pick back? Nothing?

Why couldn't they have dumped Ehrhoff's salary but kept Luko?

I'm hoping that DW is making room because he has an offer on the table for Heatley.

I'd prefer Kessel, but what would Boston want? And how much does Kessel want to be signed?

Because Luko was completely expendable the moment we signed Huskins.

Yah...

That will piss me off more.

You'd have to be a total dreamer to think that after all the crap this summer Heatley is a good idea for this team.

We don't need more skill. We need more will. Heatley is the exact opposite of what this team needed to do this summer.

A move must be coming, DW wouldn't have made a deal like that unless he had a good deal ready.

I'd have just rather not re-signed Blake. If nothing else happens, it's obvious that we're sending it in this season and waiting for Marleau to come off the books... Kovalchuk anyone?

Wow, I'm normally pretty level headed about these things but this seems absolutely BRUTAL at first glance.

Surely Ehrhoff could have gotten us a first round pick with no need for the prospects coming back. There's better ways to get a salary dumped.

My only shining hope is that:

1) This has to be part of something bigger. DW isn't entirely stupid.
2) Ehrhoff's card must have been marked post playoffs in the discussions. His name cropped up in discussions with Vancouver so DW was obviously peddling him.

I'm just so shocked at what outwardly seems such a poor return. White is frequently mocked on Vancouver's boards. If he's the centrepiece, I'm gutted - I don't know what else to say.

Keep in mind that Patrick White was a former first round pick. If the Sharks don't sign him--I'm assuming after his senior year of college--they'd stand to receive a 2nd round compensatory (55th overall) pick.
