You guys aren't seeing the downside of this: Pauser is going to complain HARD about Erhoff's fumbles in his own end.
That's like someone who lives between two freeways, with an airport in front of their house and a foghorn behind it, complaining because the kid in the house across the freeway just bought an electric guitar.
Bieksa is not going to get traded. The only way I see that happening is if someone like Kessel is coming back the other way.
Bieksa is a solid part of this team and Gillis knows that. Look for a few forwards to be moved if anything.
Yup. This trade doesn't address our need for a RH defenseman either. Or am I mistaken?
So in a matter of minutes the canucks snag 3 NHL D-men for a bit of cash and two prospects that most would consider sub-par (that might be generous).
I believe this demonstrates patience on the part of Gillis but not to the point of inaction...patience until the time is right.
GREAT trade. Absolutely nothing bad can really be said of it. Clearly this will precipitate a further move. Likely moving a combo of D-man, prospect and younger player up front for top 6 help. It likely also means Sundin has not given word he's coming back.
Fack, moving Bieksa just makes sense now. We've got his offense covered, and SOB makes up for the toughness. Plus we can probably get a really good top-six forward on a cheap deal for Juice. I hate losing Bieksa though.
