One of the greatest playmakers of all time for sure. I'm going to miss him.

He was the 3rd star tonight.

I caught a bit of the 3rd period and kudos to the Oilers for 'Going Big or Going Home.' Markkanen was outstanding.

Damn it. I wanted the wings to trade some 4th liner for Oates so bad at the deadline. At least then he could have a legitimate chance to win the cup (and possibly resurrect the Hull and Oates line?). Thats one guy I didn't want to see go away empty-handed

Probably why he signed with Anaheim before, he didn't want to go to a contender and win the Cup as a bench warmer he wanted to go places where he could be a go to guy, where he could give a team a real shot in the arm to make a difference, he did that in Anaheim big time, and in Edmonton, well I say he still did that, The season is over but Oates' leadership in that dressing room will linger in the minds and hearts of players in that dressing room for years to come.

Oates

I also give full credit to the Oilers, what a battle. It's unfortunate that we had to eliminate them, but we did what we had to do. The Oil are a bunch of warriors, and I salute them

I met Oates last week. He is an outstanding person. I was probably like the 100th person to talk to him that night, and he was very kind. Class act, and a wonderful career. Too bad he couldn't capture a Cup last summer.

Oilers are definitely going to miss his veteran presence. I believe he really helped the Oilers' young guys this year.

Congrats on a great career.

Yup. Now there's a classy guy, and one of the great playmakers of all time. Definite hall of famer.

It was kind of weird seeing him on the bench to end the game.... Definately a classy guy, awesome playmaker will be missed by lots of NHL fans.

One of my favorite players, and he was integral to a 42-0 win against Pittsburgh in NHL 97. Always my go-to guy

He didn't bring a lot of offense to the table this year, but I think he taught the young guys on the Oilers a lot about how to be professionals, on and off the ice. Hate to see the guy walk away empty handed, but who knows? Based on how well he mentored a guy like Stoll, we might see him get a ring as a coach someday

Adam Oates Retires

I guess it was kind of obvious, but I'm still gonna miss him. I remember many good moments between him and Hull in St.Louis. It's a shame he couldn't get his name on the cup before he left.

Adam Oates was really great player and it is too bad that he never got to hoist Lord Stanley. I was hoping the Avs could have picked him up for cheap and helps us in a playoff run. Either way is one of the greatest playmakers of All-Time and it was great to see him play!

One of the most underrated players of all time, to bad his career ended on a bad note but still a great player, both Brett Hull and Cam Neely have Oates to thank for their career years.

Here's a dancing banana for Oates
