I know that Tanguay can't be so stupid that he doesn't know the type of situation he's getting himself into with this tandem of idiots we have for owners here. Why anyone would want to play for either of them is way beyond me. So that could only mean one thing: Brian Lawton is a mother****ing genius. There is no other explanation. Great move.

With that really i gotta say your team is really set, i was very surprised when i saw few were upset with signing of tanguay, you guys have top 6 forwards, where we lack that...so really tanguay if he finds the right chemistry, he will be set really for you guys

Been hearing its sub 3 million.

Will you feel better when Koules buys out Barrie?

The agent for free-agent wing Alex Tanguay said his client will sign a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning after he passes a physical that will occur in Tampa on Monday or Tuesday.
Quote:
Ettedgui admitted the Lightning did not offer the largest contract, though he declined to get into specifics. But Ettedgui added, "Sometimes money is not as important for us. It was very important we find (Tanguay) the best fit possible."
Quote:
"Alex feels good and rested," Ettedgui said, calling the shoulder 100 percent healed. "He feels like he can have a very good training camp."

Really? This is why Leafs fans shouldn't try to put together lines for other teams. Where would Karsums go? I think he'll make the bottom six, most likely playing his natural RW position.

Hedman won't be on our top pairing.

Where's Smaby, Lashoff, etc? The Hair has said Smaby will be in the top 6. We didn't re-sign Lashoff to lose him to waivers.

Good move to fill a need. Tanguay isn't a top guy to carry an offense, but he won't have to here. If he can click with Vinny he can be a slight upgrade over Prospal. Looks like the team is just about done with the offseason before camp starts unless there's a d trade at some point. The team is better on paper than the one that ended the season last year that's for sure. Still question marks with how some guys will come back from injury, but if they stay healthy they should be in playoff contention. The east is tight and it's going to be a dogfight to get a playoff spot.

He really isn't very good. I am hoping he proves me wrong. But he is definitely highly overrated for his offensive "talent."

I believe the team saved $3.5 mil on the Prospal buyout. So subtract Tanguay's $2.5 mil and that's a delta of a mil. I'm assuming that got absorbed by existing player raises. Or were they able to save that considering the number of free agents that left and the Vrbata trade? How is the team's payroll expenditure compared to last season? More, less, even?

Yeah he's not very good. Basically a PPG player isn't very good.

If that's the case then I hope everyone on the team "isn't very good".

From a Habs fan...

With the addition of Tanguay, you guys have a more than decent roster.

Tanguay - Lecavalier - St-Louis
Malone - Stamkos - Downie
Veilleux - Halpern - Hall
Fedoruk - Craig - Karsums

Tanguay is soft but so skilled. Would of liked him back in MTL. He was a good acquisition. He is worth 4.5M, so enjoy the bargain.

If he is such a great player, why did it take almost 2 complete months for him to sign a contract? And if he is so great, and signed for such a low amount, why wouldn't he go to a contender to try and win a cup?

The fact of the matter is that the entire league views him as I am labelling him. Does he put up points? Ya he does. Do I think he is an impact player? Hell no.

He was coming off shoulder surgery. He is an impact player. He was looking for a longterm deal somewhere, but no one wanted that since he was coming off surgery

Yeah, but he also said he was taking his time making a decision, not that he wasn't being offered a contract. How long did we have one on the table with him?

He had offers. He may not have had any that he thought were "Fair value", but he had offers.

Good signing. Fills a need. His best days are probably behind him, but I think he can still produce.

The question you have to ask is this an upgrade to Prospal?
