Fritsche is skating in Columbus, today, with his old mates. No indication that it's anything but a workout with pals before he heads out, though.

Uh, woo, I guess. I liked Popo when he was here before, even if he was little more than a serviceable #7D.

Fritsche might stick as an extra forward.

Weird for Popovic as he is sign by SKA St. Petersburg (KHL) for upcoming season. He probably got a clause in his contract letting him do NHL try-outs.

Neither could be more than a fill in for an injury.

Their team was above the cap and they had to let him go

If Fritche can kill penalties, he has a shot at taking Thorburn's spot on the 4th line.

Thanks for the info. With Zubov and Kwiatkowski on defence, I suppose Popovic was not really important.

BTW, you do a good job on forums.internationalhockey.net, congratulations.

My guess is he turns into our 3rd line LW.

What happened to Fritsche? a couple years ago he was a fan favourite in Columbus and a pretty good bottom 6 guy with some potential to be a very good bottom 6 guy.

It's all about sustaining a level of play with Danny. He was a favorite in CBJ in part because he is from Ohio, but mostly because he played with passion. He's a decent skater with decent skills who could work out on someone's 3rd line.

Unless we sign Zherdev.
If we don't sign Z, put him a competition with Machacek, Holzapfel, Crabb, and Kane for the 3rd line LW.
He could always split time with Boulton and Thor on the 4th.

I always liked Popo when he played for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL). He is a heck of a skater. The feedback I got as to why he hasn't gone further is he's just not mean enough (i.e. finishing checks etc.). I'd love to see him stick.
