Wow I've been very, very skeptical of this happening. Let's see if he actually comes to camp. If he has recovered I'd be happy to see him on the team. Savvy, savvy player.

I'm not. It's a win-win situation.

I think he meant skeptical of the reality of Lang accepting the try-out. Not about the possible benefits of him trying out.

Exactly. It's not like we're sitting on a bunch of cap room, nor like he was here long enough to form a huge attachment to the city or to his (largely changed) teammates. But I'm glad he was invited.

One of Lapierre, Chipchura, Plekanec or Metropolit would have to move to the wing. They don't seem especially good at the draws anyway. They can still play center while shorthanded...

Andreï Kostitsyn - Scott Gomez - Brian Gionta
Mike Cammalleri - Robert Lang - Tomas Plekanec
Guillaume Latendresse - Maxim Lapierre - Sergeï Kostitsyn
Travis Moen - Glen Metropolit - Georges Laraque

Still, no place for Chipchura... sad, I really wish it would have worked out for him

That being said, maybe Lang will just plain suck and we won't offer him a contract.

Not looking good for a Lang return:

Twitter says:

RDS proper says:

That's because you are biased. The RDS twitter is one of the most reliable sources there, almost as good as Ecklund. I mean - NHL.com ? come on - what kind of sources do you think those people have....?

But the NHL's not saying he's coming to Mtl's camp, just that he's been invited. His agent is saying he's negotiating with other teams. There's no contradiction necessary, if he's been invited to camp but isn't coming, then they're both right.

He could also be invited to camp, come to camp, play for the duration of the camp, and sign with another team.

Just because he's being invited to our camp doesn't mean he can't or won't sign elsewhere. And likewise, just because he's negotiating with other teams, doesn't mean he won't participate in our training camp.

Yes, meaning he's been invited. You'll notice that the camp hasn't started yet, so it's not possible for him to actually be in it. Nor is any site reporting that he's accepted the invitation, including the one you cite. And then of course, as noted above, even if he comes to camp he's free to sign elsewhere.

So I think it's early to start counting chickens.

Ah my mistake, I read that it says he was invited to a camp but not Montreal's necessarily.
