I agree with you but it's not the Kyle Orton offense - it's the Josh McDaniels offense.

I think the fatal flaw to this whole thing is the deep ball. Orton can't and won't be able to hit it well, and the Broncos don't exactly have a deep threat thats outstanding. Royal is pretty good - I'm a fan, but I don't think he exactly strikes fear in people.

I believe the reason the Pats were so good with Josh's offense was that he had Randy Moss - the best deep threat in football. You've got to have that element or threat in the offense, but I don't think it's exactly possible with this personnel.

Can some of you Rockies fans give me some info on Brandon Hynick?

Seems to be a good prospect who was playing well in AAA. Cant believe we got a 26 yr old A baller for Thome but a good pitching prospect for Contreras.

Who is your GM? Because Contreras has been awful for the last 3 yrs and has had 1 decent start in 2 1/2 months.

Very strange move.

Contreras might still have value as a long reliever out of pen but he isn't a starter anymore

Dan O Dowd doesn't exactly know what it's like to be in the hunt on september 1st

that said I know nothing about the pitching prospect, little bit of reading on the rockies main board says the scouts think he'll be a reliever at the pro level but that's about it

You know, Contreras and Giambi maybe washed up. But at least it shows the Rockies are trying.

Moreno practicing, looks like he'll be ready for the opener.

Rumor now floating around that the Broncos are trying to get Leinart.

I'd be ok with Matt Leinart. Somehow though I don't see it happening.

Saw it on the Broncos board. Was a link in there. Certainly not the greatest source, but Leinart seems like a guy McDaniels would be interested in, and it doesn't appear he's going to get a shot in Arizona anytime soon.

Broncos made a waiver claim for QB Kevin O'Connell but Detroit got him first, so obviously they're looking for someone, just depends who they can get. Orton's injury sounds nasty, and could bug him for a while, and with Simms, you never know with sprained ankles.

I would be very OK with Leinart, if the price was right.

Was Simms contract guaranteed? Could we waive him now and be OK?

Leinart's an Orton clone - can't throw a 10-15 yard out to save his life.

Makes sense if McDaniels is interested

SO it's not drinking and late night carousing that McDaniels objects to, it's arm strength.

I heard Mike and Sandy talking about the Leinart rumor on the drive home.

They were also talking about an interview the now cut Jeb Putzier gave to Scott and Al where he talked about divisions in the locker room between "Shannahan Guys" and "New England Guys."

So the Marshall/Jets rumors have cranked up today. Schefter saying the Broncos would demand LB David Harris in return for Marshall.

Also, CBS is saying Marshall has asked Rod Smith to help him get his **** together, and they've been working together this week.

The Jets would be stupid to do that trade.

Harris had his struggles last year but that can be expected of a 2nd yr player. He was pretty good as a rookie and with Marshall's antics and off field history it would be poor choice to move a good young LB for him

I didn't say they'd do it, just that the Broncos are going to ask for Harris.

And Mike Evans from The Fan is saying Marshall is on a plane to New York. Not sure if there's any truth to this.

EDIT: Now they're saying it could be done tomorrow. Marshall for David Harris and a 3rd.

Why didn't Street close out the 9th tonight? He threw 6 pitches last night and the Rox were off on Monday...

It is a strange move to me because I just don't see the upside with Contreras. But, we did need another starter.

Hynick is pretty much going to be a 4/5th starter in the majors. His main advantage is + control. He doesn't have the raw stuff to nominate though. It should be noted that he had a very good year in what is regarded as one of the most hitter friendly ball parks in the nation.

Who cares, we won. And any rest we can give Street is good. Unless something happened during warmups.

FOX 31 ran with the "Bowlen is going senile" story. Broncos just issued a "no comment" which Zapollo pointed out...isn't exactly saying no it's not true.

Makes you wonder if Bowlen "forgot" if Cutler returned his phone call.
