I'm intrigued by some of the names not on that roster.

Helenius?
Szczechura
Karsums
Jones
Cunti
Smolenak

even, Smaby, Lashoff, and Lundin to elsser extents.

I'd think all those mentioned above would want to be doing everything they can to improve their status in the ranks of Lightning prospects as an entire group. Even if some feel they'll more likely make the big club than others.

On a side note, I wonder if the expectation for Hedman isn't going to include him in a top 6 spot on the Lightning this season. Take some of the burden off and let him reach the big leagues at his own pace. If it is this year, great, if not, thats fine too. I realize fan expectations see him in a top 4 role ASAP as he's been touted as potentially a generational defenseman...I just wonder if maybe management isn't taking a more prudent and long-term approach toward the matter.

4 first round picks taking part in this one.

I understand players like Szchechura or Karsums don't take part as they've already played NHL games.

I miss Alex Killorn, Luca Cunti, Lauri Tukonen and Matt Marshall in this list. Smolenak would've been great as he was released from his KHL club.

So normal training camp begins on a Saturday this year? Are they starting camp at the Forum in Brandon or Downtown?

Evil Empire On Ice has the Forum until September 13. Can't see NHL guys sharing ice with Nemo and Co. Looks like at least 2 days in Brandon. I like Brandon better because you can get closer to the ice.

Smaby and Lashoff aren't really "prospects" anymore. They'll be with the club. Hedman too.

Rookie Camp

Has anyone been out to see the practices and scrimmages? How are the boys doing?

You can pretty much get realtime updates by checking out Erlendssons twitter - he was giving play by plays of the scrim yesterday, it was great.

The morning session has been both groups split up doing skating and shooting drills. Its hard to get a sense of anyone standing out. As a matter of fact, for the most part, everyone seems to drift over to the pro workouts during this.

As for the scrimmages, Hedman looks like a man out there with a bunch of kids. Carter Ashton has stood out as well, so has Tokarski. But it is also hard to get a good look during a short 4 on 4 scrimmage.

Day 2 scrimmage, intensity has picked up, more hitting, hutchings scores early, 1-0 white.

Fadden from Tyrell and Hutchings. White up 3-2 looks like they are done for the day.

erlendssontrib Dana Tyrell and Vlad Mihalik, junior teammates, just exchanged a couple a light, unfriendly shoves following a stoppage in play
