Maybe during the season a thread like this will be a good idea, but when the topics are as dry as they are right now I see nothing wrong with people making threads about big name events coming to this city...especially when they are tagged with OT.

Just so people don't have to sift through 20 odd pages to see if there have been any updates to the list of people coming to the city.

Children of Bodom=October 3rd @ Edmonton Events Center/REDS

Dethklok, Mastodon, High on Fire=October 7th @ Shaw ($40)

I`m only going to Dethklok and Mastodon as of right now. Might go to Bodom if I see some of their setlists for their upcoming dates.

Although Dethklok is gonna be nuts. Funniest band since Spinal Tap. I`ve seen Mastodon once and they`re amazing live as well.

Important to note BTBAM is the first opener in this show (Between the Buried and Me for those who don't know). If you aren't familiar with this band, they are worth checking out. Same type of musicianship as PTH just every song seems to be 10mins. I'm not even sure how they can play more than 2 songs if they get a 30 minute set, because they have to play "White Walls".

Mastodon should be a killer show in Oct., surprised they are coming back so soon. Maybe they didn't realize the Starlite was so small when they booked that May show.

I think they did, cause when I looked at their tours locations many of the places were in the +/- 1000 people range. Plus they have a tour manager that would book accordingly.

I agree.

I also agree with Jase, it should be stickied.

I was tempted to post something last month about Social Distortion but, you know...since I don't live in Edmonton, I didn't.

I just saw Mastodon live last weekend at Outside Lands and the were absolutely great. Drummer is beyond sick. I really wish I could remember the order they played the songs in because Im almost positive they played Crack The Skye in succession.

Thanks.

I'm thinking maybe the first post can be a running tally of all kinds of events going on in Edmonton, adn the rest of the thread can be for discussion.

I want to go to Mastodon/Dethklok, Motorhead and Children Of Bodom, but being broke I can only really afford to go to one, so I am leaning towards Bodom only because I am the most fimilar with them.

Excellent, a Dane Cook fan. Can you please help point me at something of his that is funny? I know he is insanely popular and I'm assuming there is a legit reason for it, and it's not just that he is pretty and the "boy-band" of comedians. But I have seriously never seen anything of his that even made me chuckle. A youtube clip that you like would be awesome. So far I am very very confused as to how he got so popular. Russell Peters, on the other hand, is pretty good. A bit too much race-humour for my tastes, but at least I can tell when he's told a joke, unlike Dane Cook who just seems to tell a long story, make a funny face and jump around alot, and then move onto another long story. Please help, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Thx.

You would have to be the one that updates the first thread. Are you up for the challenge?

KsE and In Flames are pretty crappy bands lately, so I wouldn't go for only 2 bands.

If I could find a way to get to Edmonton in the middle of the week I would definitely go to Mastodon.

wouldn't ticketmaster do something like that?

I think the whole issue is that a big name concert got announced and people wanted to talk about it asap, small time gigs don't get mentioned

like the FOUR (just to correct the top) days of tragically hip didn't get its own thread, but AC/DC and Jay Z did

I'm sure if the Stones (please gawd) came to edmonton again, they would get their own thread, i'm sure if hieroglyphics (please gawd) came to edmonton it wouldn't, even though I personally think they should, haha

Beats me...I just wanted to post that picture.

Actually, I know that down here, Ticketmaster doesn't handle ALL of the shows coming. Not sure what it is like there.
