OT: Les adventures des Rabbi Jacob

The other night I rented out les adventures des Rabbi Jacob, a movie my Dad showed the family when I was 10 years old. I couldn't stop laughing. Definitely one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time.

Has anyone else seen the movie?

If not, I'd highly suggest you see it.

This is a classic. One of the funnyest Louis De Funes movie. Situation jokes about jews, frenchs pure breed and arabs too. I don't think today the same movie could be made. This subject is getting too touchy.

Les aventures de Rabbi Jacob c'est un classique. It is simply too funny. I think I might buy it on DVD if I can find it. Best Louis de Funès movie IMO

I found La Grande Vadrouille, L'Aile ou la Cuisse and La Soupe aux Choux even funnier, but Rabbi Jacob is still a classic. Louis de Funes is one of my heroes.

When i was kid I remember that radio-canada use to air one of his movies every week in summer. I never missed one.

Some of his movies are weaker but i don't think i ever dislike one of them. Even Les Gendarmes series are funny.

Le petit Baigneur is a classic too. And his adaptation of Moliere's L'avare is great.

My favorite scenes from Rabbi Jacob:

When he's driving the car as an hostage, they stop at the gas station and he try to get the attention of the policeman by doing weird faces.

The bubblegum factory

When he's arriving in the jewish quarter and salutes the crowd like the pope!

Anyway, I just love his body language, or how he's doing the mad man, yelling at his employees, but scared of his wife

Are any of those movies dubbed into English, or subtitled?

How true. I have a basic knowledge of the Quebec french, but I find it hard to follow the France french. I'm trying to pick up on my french-speaking skills.
