That was the word from a source at Sharks Ice today, though I couldn’t pin down whether Hinote would be coming with a contract in hand or as a tryout, an arrangement along the lines of Jeff Friesen’s unsuccessful effort a year ago.
Not sure how that is close to being a contract though.
Dan Hinote is not one that would make Shelley go away. He is not a heavyweight at 6'
I know that, I just mean in the sense that its another bottom 6 guy. Staubitz would replace Shelley essentially, granted not a heavyweight either. But Detroit hasn't exactly had any heavyweights the last few years.

They did have Downey a year ago...
Although I agree that an enforcer is not essential, what are we going to do when Parros takes another shot at Boyle? Letting Staubitz get pummeled by Parros will just give the Ducks momentum, and we really don't need Murray to be spending time in the box.

Pavs can do it, he can do everything, even fly.
really hope hinote makes the team, I loved watching him in Colorado back in the day.
I liked the younger Hinote when he was coming up with the Avs. Seemed like a real pain in the butt to play against. Hopefully he still has something left in the tank. I think one of him or Ortmeyer makes the team, not sure if both do...
So was I. Michalek was next followed by Grier, Goc and Moen. The dropoff from Michalek to Grier was pretty big. Moen, -6.82, was really bad. Goc started off the year near -12 and ended near -6. -6 is third pairing PK to me. -3 or better is first pairing PK. Pavs was -2.55 to lead the Sharks, followed by Patty at -2.9. Nichol was -7.5 which was good for 7th place on the Preds.
