On the surface, I don't like this trade at all, but I freely admit I don't know much about Methot. What kind of player is he? Vancouver has no need for Chimera and his salary whatsoever.

Don't want to trade Bieksa if we do the canucks defense core would be soft

Um... Nicely why does Vancouver do this? We are trying to push for a cup not rebuilding.

If Bieksa goes on the block, you can believe other GMs would offer more than Chimera/Methot/3rd. Bieksa out-scored those two combined last year!

why is Bieksa suddenly on the block? i'm sure there are other defensemen the Canucks would trade before Bieksa

Chimera should not be the main piece in a Bieksa trade.

HF seems to have done a 180 with Bieksa. Last year he seemed overrated, and this year he seems underrated.

The only reason that Bieksa is in all this proposals cause he is the only top 4 defenceman on the canucks without a NTC

I think Bieksa for Russel would have some merit. Proven talent at a reasaonable price for potential with cap relief. If not Russell, then perhaps something with Vermette as the center piece.

Russell isn't a bad starting point, but it makes the team weaker this year, so the Canucks wouldn't do it, imo.

I doubt Vermette is available, and even if he is, the Canucks are probably not interested. He has more value to Columbus than Vancouver, for sure.

The last thing Vancouver needs to do is trade their toughest d-man who puts up points, for a soft inconsistent winger.

Canuck POV aint liking it, 4.75 cap hit on a aging winger nada.

Canucks need a young LW, and a prospect Dman who have a pretty good chance to be full time NHLers down the road.

There were a couple of BlueJacket fans that actually proposed this themselves.

They knew it would be an overpayment on their behalf but they'd be okay with it.

We have Nash, Huselius, Voracek, Umberger, and we might eventually get a surprise.

We don't have any players close to the package of Bieksa. I have faith in Filly, but if he isn't playing well and is getting 8 minutes a game.....

They must be mad! I'd drop Bieksa like a sack of tatties if it meant getting Filatov.
