Carry the Avatar: CBJ 09-10 season avatars (Request Deadline has passed)

I have yet to see anything regarding avatars for the upcoming season, which is roughly a month away now.

What's the plan? Anyone with the artistic ability to do so going to be creating them, or are we just not going to have any?

Several other boards already have theirs done, so we're really behind the 8-ball.

***EDIT***

Dibs list, created avatars, and what not can all be found here:

I'm really curious about these, too. After years of living in Ohio, I've finally "converted" fully to the CBJ and want a cool way to show off my pride.

So I'm going to assume no, we won't have a theme?

I'd want to do something vaguely Antietam or Emancipation Proclamation themed - mostly based on the idea that folks kept claiming Antietam was a "victory" for the North (ha ha) and thus made the EP possible. I think there's just way too many parallels to "we finally made it to the playoffs; never mind the sweep" to be ignored.

I'd try and design something, but I'm not sure if I'd have the time available.

A tad too esoteric for a group still struggling with the "Blue Jackets" concept, don't you think?

I think I have an idea... I am going to try with my amateur skills, and I may need polished photoshop artists to help me, but I think I have something that might be kinda cool. I'll come up with a prototype and post it later for you all to judge.

So my artistic and creative abilities kinda suck, right? So by deduction, that means this means this idea is also going to suck and be horribly laughed at, especially compared to the artwork from other boards, and thus I need to be sent to the slaughterhouse.

Then again, nobody else has stood up yet so I guess I get an A for effort and a big fat F for fail!

Anyways, here's my cheesily-put-together-yet-still-sucks idea...

Carry the Flag is the team slogan again. So I figured cross it out, add in a random word, and make the next picture have to do with that word. Like so...

I figured you could put in "Captaincy" for Rick Nash, or "Future" for one of our young guns, or "Calder" for Mason, or "Fail" for the 97.1 Big Show crew, or "NEDM" for futurecorerock's NEDM cat, or "Blog" for Mattlund, or "Pancakes" for DSL, or "Beer" for beer, or "Memories" for Mr. Mac...

But yeah, that was my idea. And it probably sucks. But it's something.

Carry on!

Reasonable idea, although your execution needs a little work. (I recommend a hangman's noose next time. ) I just don't like the "cross out" step in there; maybe it's just the colors or something.

If I get the chance, I'll see what I can throw together on that one sometime this week.

I wish I was more polished with photoshop so my execution would look good. But that requires practice and I've been doing other things lately to keep me from really honing my skills. I doubt I'll ever be Dru-like, though.

And for what it's worth, I did have an avatar of Claude Noel in a noose that ripped on our powerplay but elected to take it down in a personal decision due to it not being in the best of taste, hehe.

Are we going to do a draft again for choice (once we get them going)?

Somebody rent them an apartment for the regular season. They're better than half the in-game entertainment. Did anybody see them at the NYI game during the "New York, New York" TV timeout?

Please, Scotty? If we're not gonna sign Babchuk, use some of what would have been his money for a spot for Juice's brother and trainer.

Optimus Moo.

Optimus Prime's head is fused with that of a cow's, etc.

Is anyone here able to identify the typeface ("font" for you non-geeks ) used in that "Carry the Flag" wordmark? I've been stymied so far.

A more polished look of my avatar idea by someone with actual skill.

Viqsi, the cross-out step in this one (well, technically, the duct tape step) can be simplified and start on that one for a two-framer if you think three frames is too much.
