HF's Official Rangers Blog

The sun is finally up here (we are in the same time zone, but the sun comes up about an hour later than in New York), and I wanted to give you more of a flavor of yesterday’s game. First, the Rangers played one forward short yesterday. Instead, there were seven defensemen activated for the game. [...]

Another Early Morning in Traverse City

What a beautiful place. If you can ever make the trip up here, you won’t be sorry. The natural beauty and the people that live here are just wonderful. This morning I wanted to make some comments about the players here that I have not previously discussed either in my blog or the regular articles.Although Ethan [...]

Leslie, do you have to get tickets for these kind of tournaments (if you're not a writer)?

I probably won't end up doing it, but going to one of these things sounds kind of fun

Great work, Leslie! I've really been enjoying this expanded level of coverage.

A question (which I originally posted as a comment to your first blog entry, but which appears to have not survived the format switch): Can you clarify Doyle's contract status? Everything I read over the summer, including your update on him, said that this was a big year for him, because it would go a long way towards determining if the Rangers offer him an ELC. Then, two articles came out earlier this month in the Charlottetown Guardian stating that the Rangers had already signed him:

http://www.theguardian.pe.ca/index.cfm?sid=281173&sc=99

http://www.theguardian.pe.ca/index.cfm?sid=283850&sc=99

Can you confirm either way?

(Also, what the heck was he thinking bumping a ref?!?! http://www.lhjmq.qc.ca/lang_en/?page..._nouvelle=2183 If he DOESN'T have a contract, that's no way to earn one...)

Couple of things:

First, as Squishy reminded me, Trevor Glass already has an AHL contract. Thanks for correction, Squishy. I appreciate it. And let me take the opportunity to tell everyone that if you see something that's wrong, give a holler and I will let everyone know that a correction is needed. I want this blog to be helpful to everyone and if I am wrong on the facts that just spreads misinformation and helps nobody.

Second, I just confirmed that Doyle has not signed an NHL entry-level contract. There is absolutely no upside to giving me misinfo on this issue, and I trust my sources, so I think the local reporters have it wrong.

No, I don't have any more info on Doyle getting the suspension than you do (or than someone who saw it happen does). This is not likely something that I will get much info on. I will say, however, that, this will not be looked upon kindly by the Rangers. Hopefully, he is very repentant and has taken whatever steps are necessary to make sure it never happens again.

Yes, you can get tickets for the tournament and they are very reasonably priced. Don't remember how much, but really rather inexpensive.

Have to run to the rink.

I Get Hit in the Head With a Puck

I now have firsthand knowledge as to why helmets are worn on the ice.* Getting hit by a puck is no fun. I was standing behind the glass at the Rangers practice yesterday morn, when suddenly, out of nowhere, I feel this puck hitting me right on top of the head. Hard, and man, did that [...]

In college, I once got hit in the other head with a shot in practice. Broke the cup and made me think that I could not remember how to breathe.

The puck is indeed hard. Praise be the puck.

Thanks for your support all. Just a concussion, which will heal. I am going to head off to bed straightaway though, so I won't get to post more until tomorrow.

Until then, watch for Holly's late night recap from TC.

Good to see Horak has been performing. He hasn't been given a rating yet, what do you think you would give him at this point?
