If there was a chance that Daniel wouldn't play, they wouldn't have had Pettinger skating with them. Burrows would have almost certainly moved up.

You have appeared to misread my post (or read too much into it). All I was doing was reporting a tweet as it was written. A slash on Daniel that kept him away from practice is noteworthy nonetheless.

it was a minor note, doesn't sound like something to be worried about. No need to pull out the rolley eyes.

Daniel should be fine:

Daniel Sedin checked in and said he's fine, ready to go for tomorrow. It was a Stoll slash in the 2nd.

Danny had a 'maintenance day' today. He'll be ready to go tomorrow.

When's Ryan Johnson expected back?

Also, sure would be nice to have Mitchell in the in the line-up for Round 2. *Sigh*

According to Murphy, a rough estimate is 2-3 weeks.

RJ is three weeks in and is day-to-day. He was expected to be out for 4-6 weeks.

According to some reports he could make game #3.

Ryan Johnson could possibly return this series
Seems like speculation on his part, but there is that belief in the media that he will be back.

During today's Live Chat Botchfordreported that Johnson was no longer walking with a cast.

To be clear, AV said Johnson is now day-to-day, could be back this series (strongly suggested) and he's not wearing a walking boot anymore. Seemed confused

Who cares about Ryan Johnson? When are Rome and Baumer coming back? Anybody but Alberts!

I'm a little torn about the possible return of Johnson;

On one hand, the Canucks are last in the playoffs in blocked shots. For some reason, the Canucks' top PKers chose not to go down to block shots during that terrible stretch of PKs when they played so passively (which meant that all they could do was blocks shots ... but again, they didn't). Maybe it was because they didn't want to sacrifice their positioning to maintain a tight box? We can never know for sure what their thought processes were at the time; just that they had no confidence to pressure shooters. If they lose confidence again, how sure can we as fans be that they will know to block shots then? Having Johnson in the lineup should quell those worries a little.

On the other hand, Game 5 and 6 showed that they may have their "PK groove" back based on how they pressured shooters all over the ice. Johnson has never played that way, opting to maintain position and just block as many shots as possible. Thus, he would be a momentum-killer for the PK.

The tiebreaker is Johnson's presence in the room. The Canucks will need all of their leaders present in their rematch against the Hawks; he's no good playing cheerleader in the press-box.

I want him back.

Sure, I'd like him back too, but getting Alberts out of the lineup is more important than getting Johnson back in. Godspeed, Aaron and Nolan.

Baumgartner is done for the season with a serious knee injury.

Rome is day to day with an ankle problem that he re-injured in Game 3 of the Kings series when he tried to return after being out since April 8.

Seems unlikely as Mitchell has yet to skate or do an intense work out and would be badly out of shape.

Nycholat basically replaced Baumgartner and it's tough to say whether or not that's a downgrade or an upgrade.

Baumer was our number 8 so now Nycholat takes that spot.

The real interesting question is who is number 9 and 10 on our depth chart now.

I'd guess O'berg would likely be 9 but who's 10??

We've now got Mitchell, Lukowich and Baumgartner all out with serious injuries.

You forgot about Funk and McIver who are out with season ending injuries.

I guess there's always Stefan Schneider but once you start dressing your number 13+ defencemen I don't think it really matters anymore.

That's pretty incredible that we've got 5 defencemen out with long term injuries.

I guess lucky for us 4 of those guys are depth guys.

I'd imagine our defensive depth to look something like this with everyone healthy:

1.Ehrhoff
2.Mitchell
3.Edler
4.Salo
5.Bieksa
6.SOB
7.Rome
8.Lukowich
9.Alberts
10.Baumgartner
11.Nycholat
12.Oberg
13.McIver
14.Funk
15.Zimmerman
16.Ellington

*bolded are players currently out with long term injuries

That leaves:

1.Ehrhoff
2.Edler
3.Salo
4.Bieksa
5.SOB
6.Rome
7.Alberts
8.Nycholat
9.Oberg
10.Zimmerman
11.Ellington

IIRC players that were signed after the trade deadline (ie. Schneider) aren't eligible to play for us in the playoffs.
