So basically we are likely going to be without:

D.Sedin
Demitra
Hansen
Salo
Schneider

Basically two top six forwards, one forth line forward, one top four defencemen and one top six defencemen.

Is it too early to suggest that this might just be the type of season we have??? I mean we all expected Demitra, Schneider and Salo to miss their share of games so perhaps this shouldn't suprise me.

that's great news! We need him back badly. His veteran leadership and presence should help settle Edler down too.

Rypien's not at practice today for some treatment according to Dan Murphy. No word of what for. Guess we can't be too surprised, he's managed to not be hurt all of this year and the tail end/playoffs of last year.

Update: He's tweaked his groin but is expected to play tomorrow

TSN has Rypien as questionable for Saturday's game against the Leafs due to his groin. It's dated today (Oct 22).

Mathieu Schneider just on the TEAM 1040 on Pratt and Taylor - said he will be playing on Sunday against the Oilers.

Wellwood's comments on his injury sustained when he actually tried to block a shot from Mike Komisarek in the third period:
Quote:
"It just hit me right on top of the toe of my skate and fractured my big toe," Wellwood said. "It felt OK the rest of the game, but when I took my skate off it started swelling.

"It's frustrating because we already have enough forwards hurt. Every time you lose a guy, someone has to fill in."

"[Ryan] Kesler blocks 200 shots a year and doesn't get hurt," Wellwood said. "I block 10 and I get hurt."

Assuming Danny Sedin is out 4 to 6 weeks that means we've got anywhere from 6 to 11 more games to go until he's back.

Yup. 18 days since the injury. He vowed to be back in 3 weeks, but I don't see that happening. I'd be thrilled if he's back around the 10th (which is 8 games from now). Seems a reasonable date. Will have been 33 days since the injury at that point.

Salo may be back this weekend, Rypien may be back tomorrow, and Hansen to have the pins taken out of his hand tomorrow.

Dear God I hope they don't rush Rypien and Salo back. Just let them heal 100% before taking to the ice, last thing we need is reaggravation of an injury and have them out for even longer. That said, if they are legitimately healthy it'd be great to have them back.

If Salo is indeed back I suppose SOB will be taking a seat.

More good news, Daniel will get his cast removed on Friday and it's possible he may be back the following week according to Botchford.

That's quick. I hope he's not rushing it.

he's been out for almost 3 weeks as it is... if he's back in a week, he's been out for 4 weeks, and it was originally predicted at 4-6 weeks.

even when salo is "100%" he still gets injured after 10-20 games it seems.
