It wasn't even during the game. Apparently it was while he was playing soccer before the game.

Lu keeps himself in great shape, there will obviously be a little rust catching up to game speed and I wouldn't expect him to be where he was before the injury for a game or two. I'm also sure with Lui's return the team will rally behind him and try to put up solid defencive efforts as they usually do anyways and give Lui a chance to shed that rust with minimal work so he can hit his stride and start putting together some W's.
Hey as long as we are winning I could care less who is in net, I could care less weather we are getting shut outs at this point with our decimated team. 2 pts is the biggest concern and I think the team has showed tremendous character to shut down LA on the road and come home and shut down the conference leading Av's with so many regulars out. Lui will be Lui, really don't need to worry about him, I mean it's Lui, 30 GM's in the league would take this guy.

Yes, he will most likely travel with the team on the upcoming 5 game road trip and hope to start in the latter half I'm guessing.

Hopefully he'll start on the 10th but at worst you have to think that he'll be back by the 20th.

We'll have to play anywhere from 3 to 6 more games without Lu.

Assuming there are no more injuries and set backs then it wouldn't suprise me if we've got everyone back other then Demitra and Grabner.

So realistically we could have this as our lineup on November 20th:

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Raymond-Kesler-Samuelsson
Hansen-Wellwood-Bernier
Rypien-Johnson-Hordichuk

Mitchell-Salo
Ehrhoff-Bieksa
Edler-Schneider/SOB

Luongo

Once again that's assuming that we don't get any more injuries over the next 6 games but with the pace that we're on right now it would be a pretty big suprise if that's our lineup.

Here is an interview Alain Vigneault gave for Canucks TV on Monday Nov02/09.
http://canucks.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=6&id=50357

In it he discusses injuries - notes went through similar issues in Montreal. Part of the NHL grind.

Luongo - skating and hopefully back during the 5 game road trip.

Daniel Sedin - to be re-evaluated on Friday. If pain free when skating then it is up to him to say when he is ready to go.

Grabner - waiting for MRI results. Looked pretty serious.

Hansen - about 2 weeks away. Skating everyday and hand is getting stronger. Will travel on the next road trip with the team.

Johnson - still not sure. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Demitra - no idea. Long time yet.

Remember the season where Ohlund, Salo and Jovo all got injured during the stretch run.. I thought THAT was bad.

Yup, Bryan Allen then became the #1 defenseman; course it didn't stay that way for long as Ohlund returned to the lineup soon after (granted, he played with injured ribs).

I honestly think the Nucks have been able to ride this one out because the defence hasn't been decimated like it was last time they caught the injury bug. Only 1 goal allowed in the last two games says we're playing pretty good defence (even if Bieksa has been pretty bad lately).

Still, pretty impressive achievement under the circumstances.

One question, if we assume Grabner comes back before Demitra, would you send him back down? If he can get back to playing the way he was in the last few games, I'd give him a few more games with the team and sit Hordichuk or Hansen.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Raymond-Kesler-Grabner
Samuelsson-Wellwood-Bernier
Rypien-Johnson-Hansen/Hordichuk

"Just saw Daniel Sedin in his walking boot. He has a cane and was limping badly."

That was from Elliott Pap from his blog on the Vancouver Sun.

My guess is that the earliest we'll see Danny Sedin back in action is likely going to be November 20th which means we'll likely be without Danny for another 5 more games.

A few more notes to pass by via the Vancouver Sun:

Quote:

Finally, some good news on the injury front for the Vancouver Canucks. Henrik Sedin walked into the Vancouver International Airport departure area Wednesday morning without a limp.

And goalie Roberto Luongo went along for the ride as the Canucks departed for a five-game road trip that begins tonight against the Minnesota Wild.

Sedin, who was struck on the top of his right foot by an Ales Kotalik shot during Tuesday night’s 4-1 win over the New York Rangers, said he felt fine. X-rays taken after the game were negative, but Sedin was still concerned about how the foot might feel Wednesday morning.

“It is a lot better today,” Sedin said. “They told me if it feels better today it’s not a problem.”

Sedin was almost as relieved as coach Alain Vigneault was to see his team’s leading scorer walk into the airport. With six forwards, including Daniel Sedin, already out, Vigneault could not bear to think about what the loss of Henrik would have meant to the team.

....

The Canucks could get one of their injured forwards back tonight. Canuck general manager Mike Gillis said centre Ryan Johnson, out with a concussion since Oct 28, has been cleared to play.

Winger Jannik Hansen, out all season with broken fingers, also made the trip and said he’s getting closer to being ready to play.

So basically Johnson is expected to be back in the lineup tomorrow night which leaves Hansen, Demitra, D.Sedin and Luongo as the only regulars out of the lineup.

Hansen Back Against Blues Too?

BTW it looks like Hansen may be back as well against the Blues:
Quote:
Jannik Hansen, who hasn't played since badly breaking three fingers during the Canucks' final pre-season game on Sept. 27, practised with teammates for the first time Thursday morning and hopes to be ready to play in St. Louis.

No official word yet but he's not on the trip and if you read a few posts up then you'll notice that he's walking with a pimp stick and he's got a limp which to me suggests that he'll likely be out until after the Canucks 5 game road trip.

So we'll likely see him back no earlier then November 20th.

It might surprise you how soon he could be back, a lot of foot and ankle injuries are worse for walking than skating.
