The Preds make the playoffs and all I see are the most negative articles. Yes the Preds did make it on the Oilers loss, but that doesn't take away the fact that the Preds had a good season and put themselves into a position to make the playoffs.
The article was way too short. Its not like I'm expecting alot from the paper, but something other than the negativity that is the articles they write. The paper does affect the casual person's view on the Preds. Instead of seeing the Preds in the playoffs, they see that the Preds "backed in" and already lost a playoff game yesterday. I'm sure if the Titans were in the same situation, it would be completly different, including interviews with team water boys on how they thought the Titans were ready for the playoffs....
Well the majority of the articles were probably written after the game yesterday and not after the "offical" clinch last night. That may account for the negative tone in the articles.
Lets face it. The Tennesseean is a representation of the casual sports fan in this town, which BTW is a majority here in the metro. They write in a subjective manner that neither praises or gives very much credit for the positives. They are too busy looking for "that story" that will set them apart. The sports writers spend too much time trying to be detectives and not writers. It makes me think that a bunch of "Fletch's" work there. But alas, they may get a better article or two about the boys after the trip out to Colorado today. There's always hope.
DID I forget to mention that the Tennesseean really is shoked that thePReds made it to the Playoffs. When have they ever given them a chance???? Certainly not this year.
