Ok, but the Rangers already moved on to Plan B - Gaborik. The Rangers would not offer -less- for Heatley, not more.

Thanks for making my day. Sather giving up Dubi would be a big deal, but adding Staal too?

Staal is our best shut down d-man on our team and is going to be a complete stud in a couple of years.

If Murray called and asked for that, Sather would hang up the phone laughing.

With that said, Sens fans don't get your hopes up and Ranger fans don't worry.

I would deal

Higgins/Dubi/Cally, Rosie and McD/Sangs for Heatley though.

If Staal's involved, no deal. No way. We can't start shedding our up-and-coming defensemen.

Where is the meat?

Comrie? I would rather have you play center. Comrie doesn't have a NHL contract two days before the NHL season for a reason. Hint. He stinks.

I agree with you.

The thread should be called "The thread about nothing" because there is nothing going on here.

It's like watching a cat trying to chase it's own tail.

How do you sell newspapers, or get web clicks, in the Canadian capitol 2 days before there's any actual hockey news to report? Pull out the shovel and drag the corpse of a dead and buried rumor out of the ground.......apparently.

Such foolishness.

That Sens Chirp guy is a fraud. He is another product of the Canadian Socialist school system. He can't read either. I heard a report on 1010 WINS this morning about former NYC Public School students complaining that the school system of NYC didn't prepare them for life after school. It seems the Ottawa school system has a similar problem with Wayne Scanlan,Fuhr and Sens Chirp.

I also want to add, if you trade Staal and Rosival, in our division, with the likes of Parise, Richards, Carter, Crosby, Malkin, etc, etc, your asking for trouble.

i really don't see how heatley and his contract would help us. sure he is a great player, but we just can't have another 7.5 million winger. by signing gaborik we said goodbye to heatley.
not to mention this package is absolutely ridiculous...

They can draft somebody with lottery pick they end up getting as a result of D pairings caused by this trade.

Staal can't be included in this deal, I like the idea of Heatley in a Ranger uni but not at that price.

100% Prospal. He should be the first line center as it is. Dubinsky is overrated. I'd love for him to be moved in a deal for Heater asap.

Damn apparently Marc Staal is Nik Lidstrom wearing a mask and drinking heavily before games.

Someone said they would not trade EVEN UP for Heatley? Really? I know the Rangers are brimming with natural offensive talent to the point where they paid about a mil a goal for Gomez and Drury last year but I *think* they could find room for a 50-goal scorer.

Staal is a good player and a potential top pairing guy but Heatley is a franchise forward. The deal as written in The Sun seems in Ottawa's favor given the weak bargaining position of the Senators but proposals are often well off of the final deal. The guy who said McDonagh in place of Staal is the one making the most reasonable evaluation IMO, that seems pretty fair given the circumstances.

Just fyi, the NHL has a salary cap. Think about that and then rethink your post.

Heatly's production has declined the last two years: 105 down to 82 down to 72. We'd sure feel like a bunch of idiots to have traded Dubinsky and Staal for a 65 pt player who is unhappy with his role after the inevitable Tortorella benchings . . .Even if the Rangers were stupid enough to trade young, cheap players with very high upsides, there is no gurantee that we'd get the 50g 100 pt Heatly from 06-07.
