Yes, Dan Boyle and Bobby Ryan have both mentioned in interviews that they were Flyers fans growing up.

I could google it and get the info, but so could you ....

Brett Hextall is also a Flyers fan.

And so was R.J Umberger.

Any others?

Are you sure? I read some where that he was a Flyers fan. But I guess it makes sense since he grew up in Pittsburgh.

I remember seeing a Tie Domi interview where he said he smashed his mouth into the handle bars on his bike to knock out his front to teeth because he was a Bobby Clarke fan.

Mark Eaton was a Flyers fan up until they let him go.

I'm 99% sure he played for the Wissahickon Warriors... Wissachickon Skating Rink asked him to come back to celebrate their 50th anniversary or something (along with some famous figure skaters from there) and he turned it down unless they agreed to pay him $10,000 appearance fee. Made me hate the man for life. **** him, he's not from my city.

Umberger was definitely a Penguins' fan in his young days.

Edit: Found this article:

http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/...51/detail.html

Quote:
R.J. Umberger got hooked on hockey as a kid, captivated by the powerful Penguins teams that won back-to-back titles in the early 1990s.

"Of course, I was definitely a product of (Mario) Lemieux," he said. "What he was doing in the late '80s drew my interest to the sport. Then they won the cup and it was complete mayhem, and I wanted to be a hockey player. It was just a great time."

He laced up his first pair of skates when he was 7 years old and never looked back. His mother, Roseann, said nine years of playing in hockey leagues cost the family about $20,000, but it was worth it.

"I don't think you can describe it," she said. "You're just so proud and overwhelmed with it all. It's just amazing."

He grew up in Pittsburgh and was a Pens fan, but I heard he has a Flyers tattoo and really loved it here. Too bad. Umberger and/or Knuble would be awesome for us right now.

I'm pretty sure I've read Eaton was a Penguins fan because his dad was.

That actually sounds more right than Valley Forge to me. I'll ask my dad about it next time I talk to him.

Umberger has a Flyers tattoo so I would assume he was a Flyers fan at some point. I doubt a player would get that while he was on a team, considering the nature of the NHL and free agency.

Funny story about that though, anyone who follows collegiate wrestling probably heard this last year (or the year before, don't remember exactly when). But a guy who wrestled for Nebraska got the Nebraska "N" tattooed on his leg, then he got kicked out of school for being in gay porn. Then he transferred to another school and I think won a national championship.

That tattoo is from, what, two years ago? I think that's right.

Dude, so uncool! I learned to skate on that ice. Speaking of which, did CHA follow through on their plans to eject the club and redevelop the property? I haven't been by in years.

He got his tattoo while with the team or soon after being traded. I don't think it's really known, but it's some where in that time.

When I read that in Bill Meltzer's book it made me crack up laughing.

That was a great book.

Yeah there's a big banner at the Wissahickon Rink (Definitely one of my least favorite rinks in the area). I'm sure he only played on the squad for his early years, but I guess his number is retired by the club or something.

Devin Setoguchi apparently also was a Flyers fan as a kid.

Clarke Wilm is named after Bob Clarke. JJ Daigneault was a Flyers fan growing up.

I'm going to guess purely on location that Jim Dowd was a Flyers fan, but I'm not sure
